another hitch question

Why such a big price range on hithces,I got my monty and had the dealer throw in the hitch as part of the deal, which of coarse was not the top of the line in price but rated safe for my monty.(16,000) Being new to this I don't know the difference when towing.I have a 2005 3295rk pulled by a 2003 duramax dually.Any information would be appreciated.Thank you

Garyka,

I think the big prices on hitches you are referring to are those that incorporate some type of suspension design to reduce the slamming and jerking inherent to the bigger 5th wheels. I too got the 16K hitch from the dealer, but I'm considering changing to an air ride hitch or pin box, or other type of design, just to take some of the trauma and beating off of my new truck as well as the trailer itself.

Not sure if that was what you were asking -

I found the biggest difference was who was selling it. The dealers were usually considerably higher than truck outfitters...for the same hitch.

RVers have deep pockets and the Hitch guys want a piece of the action.

You are right Don, If you think RVers have deep pockets, what about Boaters? Those pockets have holes in the bottom, so you can let all your money pour into the ocean. But living on the Island you probably already knew that.
