Are ya ready for this??? Earlier I posted diesel at 2.53 on I65 at exit 2 Flying J in KY. This AM we were on our way to Indiana and of course stopped at that same Flying J but the price had changed by 10 cents a gallon. NO, NOT UP it went down to 2.43. As we traveled north on I65 we noticed the prices slowly going up. As we exited KY at Louisville the price was 2.54.
So far here in Goshen the best we have seen is 2.69, most around 2.79, and that's gonna be my secret but I can be bought.

Here in Estes Park, Colorado the diesel price is consistently $3.24, but we drove over to Loveland today (for a visit, not for fuel) and were able to top off at $2.85. Quite a difference in 30 miles.

Can anyone out there explain to me why diesel is more expensive than gasoline? Everyone, including people who work in the oil business, have told me time and again that diesel is the first thing off the refining process and that in order to get gasoline it has to go through several more steps, and that diesel SHOULD be less expensive like it used to be. Is there some kind of price gouging going on????

Well as far as I am concerned YES!! It is price gouging and there is nothing we can do about it. As political issues are not to be discussed on this forum I will say no more.

Diesel competes with fuel oil in the process. We are just ramping up for the fuel oil season. Less diesel produced. Charlie is the resident expert in refining. I only spent time as an engineer in the exploration and drilling end of the oilfield.

You guys are doing exactly what the oil companies want you to do.
" Those are low fuel prices " I dont think so, they should be lower. Diesel is the bottom of the bucket, a bi product, compaired to what they do to get a gallon of gas, I will be happy to see the prices go down to what the air line componies get there JP-5.
If it's not for the blaiming people back east heating oil, or some other excuse to lay on us for there profets, which will start soon because winter is comming and the prices will go up real soon.
It does make for a less chunk out of the wallet, so I guess you could say its time to move about.
