F250 WEIGHT

Pulled into a TRUCK STOP and weighed my F250 ( CAT SCALES ) All I received was the GROSS WEIGHT of the truck @ 7710 lbs, should I have not had a per axel weight ??

RLVoumard,
I suspect it depends on the vintage of the particular CAT scale. At our closest scale (Center Point IA), there are 4 separate dividers on the scale allowing for up to four axles to be weighed simultaneously plus providing the gross weight. I was able to position our TV and 5er such that I was able to get a weight for each axle of the TV plus the pair of axles on the 5er. Previously, I had done what it appears you were trying to get, that is weigh the TV by itself. FYI, my TV full of fuel, no occupants, no fifth wheel hitch weighed --> 4460# on the front axle, 2960# on the rear axle for a total of 7420#. The specs on my TV should be in my signature.

Hope this helps,

Don

I wasn't aware there are still scales at truck stops that don't do a per axle weight. Did you happen to notice whether the pad is segmented? I wonder if you have to tell them you want per axle weight? I've never told them that and always got three weights. The two trailer axles were weighed together despite being on different segments. Next week when we have ours weighed I'll ask if they can separate those axles for weight.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

The goverment weigh scales in British Columbia are always open for free use after hours.
A small car can fit on the entire scale, everyone else weighs one axle at a time and I have always weighed the two trailer axles as a unit. I have never thought of weighing each trailer axle by itself but all you have to do is position yourself right and it should give both weights.
I'll do it the next time I head out with the Montana.

In the midwest, many of the grain elevators leave their scales on 24x7. I used to use those same way Don described for govt scales.
