Haven't you read the news, Rich? Our students in this country are facing obesity problems. You might want to be careful. Not like the good ole days, when we didn't have soda/pop, juice and candy vending machines right in the school...

Gyro,

No problems turning here. The wheelbase is actually about 6" shorter than my Ram 2500 4x4.
Boy will it haul the weight! GVWR is one thing I dont have to worry about. I could carry the whole 5er on the truck and still be within specs.
But its hard to get the SMILE off my face when I get to the campground!

Merv,

And I bet you get a whole lotta admiring looks from folks who wanted to upgrade to something like the Cambridge, but didn't really have the TV to handle it.

And, of course, folks like ME, who still wants to carry my entire WORLD in this Monty!

A lot of this weight control is brought about by due diligence and lawyers getting into the picture. In my own workplace we were forced to throw away rigging equipement that we had safely used for years, only because it was not certified by an engineer. The world is changing.

Gyro,
I get mixed results from the Adults. They drive by and look (gawk).
I have had a couple ask about the setup.
But the kids are the real fans. They just love the Spongebob and Patrick on the doors.

Thanks Dave,

Life is to short to be too serious.
Aren't we all just big kids at heart?

It's not only about tow vehicles that I've noticed a bit of a change on the forum. There is another thread on MOC where the member bought a 3400 and another replied that another wayward camper had joined the elite group of 3400 owners and that maybe because of the numbers they should have a separate thread. I'm hoping it's just me interpreting it wrong.

Sunshine,

While attempting to correct someone’s misperception is often a fool’s errand, I hope to nip this one in the bud before it is seen by someone else who didn’t understand.

You’ve interpreted it wrong.

It was in jest.

It did, however, point out that there are now a lot of 3400 owners.

That's because the 3400 has the features those owners preferred. (We started out to buy a 3400, and decided this 3475 had more of what we desired.)

Relax. Enjoy life. Wait until an actual rude comment is made that warrants discussing.

(I'm not so sure there's really too much of a problem over tow vehicles, either. But since I don't see things the way others sometimes do I might be missing something. So I didn't comment much about any negative spin on the subject. And, thankfully, that opinion didn’t start a big mess.)

Steve

The thing that may be going wrong in the forum is that we are lacking a collective sense of humor????

Rich,

You can say that again!

Of course, most anyone who's read more than a few of your posts know that you have a sense of humor that reveals itself in most of your posts in one way or another. I doubt that you could say a mean thing and have it appear as though you mean it, no matter how much you enjoyed removing that TV from its nest.

I have what I have. If I didn't like it, I'd sell it and buy something else. And if I didn't like it, I'd probably make negative comments about it to point out why. Meanwhile, since I do like what I have, is there any reason I shouldn't be happy to extol the benefits of my personal choice whenever I could?

If someone kept the stuff they perpetually whined about, wouldn't they seem like they're due for a check-up from the neck-up?

Same goes for those who feel they've got what their senses tell them is the cat's meow, but never expressed it.

Gee. Why do people seem to want to take offense?

Oh, and on the thread mentioned, there were even posts about how elite the 3400 owners are! On threads about 4WD versus 2WD, some people actually came down on the others for their choices!

And…now get this…There are whole Internet forums dedicated to folks who do not even own Monties. Nor even a single Keystone product!

My! My!

In all the above, however, the reasons those folks felt, (and therefore stated,) how they felt were evident. And anyone who accepts the fact that the world is made of a whole lotta folks with a whole lotta preferences, it's no big deal.

The comment on a 3400 separate owner's forum was made in jest...at least that's the way it seemed and that's the way I think most of us took it. There are lots of 3400s on the road. I talked to Keystone corp today on a different subject, he said 20% of all Montana sales are 3400s.

Cat,

I think it's just "Slide Envy" that makes some people sensitive to the comments made about their rigs by the 3400 owners.

Steve (Who only has three slides....)

More slides, more weight. Everyone gets the rig that fits their lifestyle.

Orv,

That was one big factor in our choice of the 3475, over the 3400 we thought we were going to get. We would have loved the extra counter space, too. But having come from a 3,000lb. overweight situation with the 3380, we figured we would avoid the temptation.

To each there own. We love what we have and don't get too excited when someone tells me why they didn't like my choices of tow vehicle or trailer. It suits us well and I'm sure there’s does the same. We are both happy and I have no problems with others expressing how happy they are with there units. With the FL being discontinued, I'm sure we will eventually have to give up and look at a different floor plan when we are ready to trade. But for now we are very content with our setup.

Amen Fordzilla. We all have what suits us best. I just found the word "elite" a little unusual, as did some 3400 owners I know - it was just an observation on our part, hardly worthy of the prose it generated. Looking forward to the rally in Goshen and are going to try to route ourselves through your neck of the woods so we can "meet" Blue Bunny. How are you liking the braking system on the F350? That was the deciding factor for us and so far it's been very good.

So far I like it. It is great not having to adjust to city driving vs. out on the open road. I think I need to set up the trailers brakes a little bit as I have it set on 9.0 and it still doesn't seem like it is helping as much as it should be. Let me know when you will be in the area as SAndreasen and I will be trekking towards Goshen together as well. Steve only lives a few miles away and I bet I wouldn't have to twist his arm to hard to get him to meet for Ice Cream and to visit with another member of the MOC.
