That is on the low side to what I paid last week at dealer, I had a fit at his place $114.00 for fuel filters, 2 to a box. It takes two filters one up top and one by the separator. I have found them same brand Motorcraft from Racor maker of them for $40.00 a pair see link:http://www.oilguard.com/Ford6.php

The cost of filters is going up for the Duramax as well. I was not really to excited about it, but reminded myself that I own a diesel for the longevity of the motor and fuel savings. Could own a gas motor and get 12 mpg highway or my truck that gets 20-22 mpg on the highway. I would have to double check but I think I paid $52 for my fuel filter installed last month, hate to think about what it is going to be next time...

I think Ford has restrictions on what filters you can use for the 6L as far as the warranty goes. You might check that out.

For me I get my Fuel/water seperator Filters from www.powerstrokeshop.com

They run about 12 bucks. The filter for the 7.3 comes with a new gasket.

The filter for the 7.3 was 63.00 at dealer and I buy the same filter from NAPA for 26.
You may want to try your local NAPA dealer to see if they have yours.
Autozone and Advance also carry one just like it but not made by the same co that makes Motorcraft.

Try diesel injection sales and service (800-648-4500), San Antonio, Tx. The last time I ordered filters I got four for $45 plus shipping. They use UPS. The more you buy the cheaper they are. In my area the local Ford dealer wanted $95 for the fuel filter. Have been using these filters for four years without any problems.

I haven't checked this out for sure but research indicates that these are Fleetguard replacements. Anyone know for sure?:

Oil filer FL-2016 = LF16166
Air filter FA-1746 = AF26152
Fuel filter FD-4604 = FS19797 (International #1847170C92)

Broome, On my '04 I didn't even open the cover until the little plunger was sucked down. That is what the dealer told me to do. They say these new filters in the 6.0's hold a lot more dirt and will last a long time. Seems to me it lasted about 40k though. And I replaced the air filter with one made by Donaldson. Same company that makes them for Ford. They area real pain to change out. I had better luck unhooking the snorkel tubes and removing the hole unit as one and then taking it apart on the bench.

Being in an rv park where working on vehicles is prohibited, I had a Ford dealer change the fuel filters last week. Total was $105 plus tax. That's both parts and labor. The filters invoiced at $65. When we bought our 2003 6.0 those filters at Ford were $115. So they have come down some.

Air filter. If you do not drive a lot of dusty roads that filter is good for 80k miles or more. Under the hood is an air filter gauge that shows you how clogged the filter is. Our 2005 6.0 has 52,000 miles and this gauge shows less than 10% clogged. That filter is pricey. I'm not sure the current price but back in 2003 when I asked it was around $100. It filters to a very small size so I guess that's part of that cost. I think I saw the motorcraft air filter in a Walmart awhile back for considerably less than at a dealer.

I had my first air filter changed at 25,000 miles as the gauge under the hood said it was time. I just checked that gauge again and it says I am well in the green. Truck has 51,200 miles on it, will have the tech check it at the next oil change and see if it needs one anyways.

Ken, I can't get the link to work but the number rings a bell. Thanks for the link.

I was at Walmart today and checked the air filter. It's not the motorcraft filter. It's a Fram and it's $63 and change. Frankly, after reading about the super filtration numbers on the Donaldson that Ford uses I would not use anything but the Donaldson/Motorcraft until someone can match it. Last I saw on the dieselmann site there still is nobody that can match it. Once my 100k engine warranty is past maybe I'll change my mind.

Steve,

It may have been down as it looks like they've revamped the website. It worked for me but the page has changed since I posted the link.
I buy Fleetguard oil and air filters from them.

Steve R,
Check out these sites they both carry Motorcraft Ford and Racor which makes the filters for ford and Donaldson. They both have good prices, I just ordered oil filters and fuel filters from Oilguard.http://www.oilguard.com/Ford6.php This other sire is for a Ford dealership that wholesales parts in Wabash, IN. I just ordered transmission filters, and drain plugs for fuel filter, which makes it easier and air filter from them. They each were cheaper than any dealership around by at least half the cost. my local dealer wanted $94.99 each for the fuel and air filters I got the for less than half that each. $40.00 for the fuel filters and $49.00 for air filter all Ford OEM filters.http://www.powerstrokeshop.com/
