Dometic Refrigerator

First is started dropping temp enough to thaw the freezer. Turned it off for a few hours, started coming back cooling. Left for awhile and now no power at all. Plugged it into other power source, nothing. Now smelling ammonia. I did pull the fuses which looked fine. Any thoughts? Time to buy another?

Time to buy another! Sorry.
Sounds like your coil is leaking. I smelt it one time. I could get a rebuilt unit or for a little more new one. I chose the new unit. You can take the refrigerator out and replace the cooling unit or just replace the whole refrigerator.

I replaced just the cooling unit. Not a difficult job. Certainly cheaper than replacing the refrigerator if you can do the work yourself. Jim

When mine quits I will replace with a residential unit.

Yup, when you smell ammonia it's dead.
