Water pump

I am pretty sure the previous owner of our 2010 mountaineer put in the wrong replacement pump and the dealer never verified that the pump worked that we bought it from. They installed a shurflo model# 4008-171-E65 115v ac power..... and the way it is wired up makes no sense either... am i right by saying that the pump should be a 12v pump... or have they made changes to the power converters that they convert 12v dc to 115 ac power for when you are not hooked up so you can possibly run the pump.... any how the pump wouldn't work if it was ac power... they hooked up the green(ground) to the common (white) wire. from what i can tell from http://www.trekwood.com/products/142...RV-No-Fittings that it is supposed to be a 12v pump.. any ideas?

You are correct it should be a 12 VDC pump. Maybe the previous owner only used it in a RV park?

Shurflo makes good pumps, but you need a 12v. Your converter will change 110v to 12v but not the other way. For that you need an inverter.

Be sure to use a volt meter on the wires before you hook up a 12 volt pump. They had to rewire it somewhere to get 120. Hook it up to a 12 volt pump and you might let all the magic smoke out.

The pump dosent work.. pretty sure they clicked on the wrong one since the 12v and 120v one model numbers are only different by 1 number.. bet if i cut the end off a cord and wired it to it that the pump would work as i am sure that they had no clue. Thanks for the conformation on the power converter. Our last rv was an 06 cherokee light So wasnt sure if they changed anything or not.
