Roadside emergency kit

Anybody have any recommendations for a roadside emergency kit? I've seen the little traffic cones, reflective triangles, flares, some kind of blinking lights, etc, to help warn oncoming traffic of your location.

Any suggestions??

Someone posted a video not too long ago by some people who broke down by the side of the road. They had several suggestions. One was to not use flares in dry area in case a spark ignited a fire.

I use safety triangles and have a florescent vest for visibility.

It all depends on what type of emergency you are preparing for. DW is a survivalist/prepper and our kits look very different from most. We are prepared for most anything/anywhere. If you are in the desert you will need different items than what you would need say in the mountains or at the beach. When will you be traveling? Winter - different items or Summer - different items. The basics are all the same, but basics will not be all you need.

Safety triangles for me. We also have a lighted emergency light if we needed it.

The video that Loanoak talked about said that when they broke down they did not have cell service and had to walk till they got cell service. They said to carry a battery pack for cell phone that you can carry with you. I went and bought one.

Never use flare. Big fire hazard, and they burn up way too fast. If you must use them buy by the case lot.

Get a set of “truckers” triangles. learn and set them up corectly.

Couple flashing RED lights can help.
Couple very good flashlights.
Safety vests can work.
Body mounted lights,

But get off the rd ( to the right of the fog line) as Far as you can get.

But do not let your lights blind oncoming traffic.

This should handle most roadside emg stops.

Rain gear can be a good add to. As will walking shoes. Carry water/food.

We have triangles that stand up and are fold down type, but looking to get the round flashes, fluorescent orange, that can be attached to the trailer with magnets and can sit on the road. They are very bright! And fairly inexpensive!

On the video, they also suggested water & snacks. They were on the side of the road a long time and couldn't open the slides to get to the 'fridge.

Surprised this went this far without someone mentioning personal protection.
When your sitting broke down beside the road your probably at your most vulnerable. We’re all hoping that person/persons is there to help. If one of you has to leave walking for help you both need some way to CYA.

We carry the triangles, a flashing triangle and also have a set of the emergency LED flashing road flares. They have 9 separate flashing modes and can be seen from a long way off. We also can get to our frig and bedroom if needed and we carry a spare phone battery and a USB cord for charging the phone if need be from the truck or Monte batteries. We also carry personal protection as MidMOTraveler has mentioned. We also have OnStar on our tow vehicle and hopefully it will work if there is a problem also. We carry an emergency kit with us in the unit also incase something does happen and also have a small duffle bag packed with essentials for at least two nights stay if needed to be without the unit. Hopefully, we are ready and hopefully we will never have to use any of it!

For those who obtain a Class A drivers license that is required by many states, the manual delineates the minimum requirement. If your state requires the class A license and you do not have one, I strongly suggest you take the drivers test to get one. If your State does not require that license, you should update your knowledge of Class A license requirements anyway.

As you never know who might stop to help you, you need to consider carrying self protection as there are those out there who are willing to harm you. I realize we all want to protect our vehicle and rv and also protect others from a catastrophe but don't forget ourselves.

Consider keeping a stash of cash hidden away. Had a problem and the responder didn't take cards of checks. Fortunately, we had someone able to cover the cost until we could get to an ATM. But also problem may occur when there is a general power outage and card machines aren't working.

But must know the how, when, and where. As well as why not to.

OK Guys, I posed the question and this is what I've settled on:
Folding triangles that are retroreflective and DOT approved: Signal stat from NAPA Auto parts, nice carry case holds three, $40
LED Flares: Custom Topper sales: 2 each at $15 each, magnetic back
LED Triangles: Harbor Freight: 3 each at $10 each, magnetic back
ANSI Class II fluorescent orange vest
ANSI Class III Bright yellow green vest
In-Reach Explorer: Satellite personal locator / emergency device. I can send text messages or SOS messages. I always carry this when I'm hunting, river rafting, out racing around in the ATV, etc. Don't need cell service to use this device.
