We arrived

We launched from western Washington the first week in October with the goal of visiting our son, his wife and seven children, who live in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. The route we took carried us through Minnesota and Wisconsin, two of the five states we had not visited.

Total trip covered about 3600 miles and thirteen states. We were delayed in Goshen, Indiana for a week waiting for our turn to get the new LevelUp system installed. Sweet! Snow chased us out of Asheville, NC., So we landed in Smithfield, NC.

The Montana did well until the landing legs began to malfunction which precipitated the trip to Goshen. We maintained our travel rule of traveling 300 miles per day or less. Now we have added to the rule. Never travel more than two days in a row. Then rest an extra day or more if there is something special to see or do. This protocol keeps us fresh and prevents travel fatigue.

It looks now like we will be in Smithfield for a month. Happy RVing....

Stiles,
We adhere pretty much to the "rules" you've outlined. Makes traveling that much more enjoyable!

Glad you had a relatively uneventful trip. You've arrived just in time for the Holiday Season --- Enjoy!

It's wonderful that you have the time to follow these rules. Great guidance for us when we retire. It's important to enjoy getting to your destination as well as being there as you have demonstrated. Happy trails!

We will be a month at Four Oaks Lodging & RV Park. It is not the grandest RV Park in America, but their aren't many choices on the east side of Raliegh/Durham. It is an hour away from my son in Youngsville.

We wanted to stay in the Falls Lake State Park, but they have a 6:00 PM curfew, something we just can't bide. From Google Maps, it looks as if we are about 90 miles from New Bern traveling down US Hwy 70.

Stiles,
Smithfeld BBQ used to be pretty good, and their hush puppies were great. Enjoy NC!!

Stiles,
Yep, you are about 90 miles from us. I just had my trailer at the dealership in Garner for tire damage repair and passed through Smithfield. Come on down and visit our historic city. We're celebrating out 300th birthday this year. New Bern was the first colonial capital. There is a lot to see if you like history. Our new history center just opened. Then we can get together for a visit and possibly dinner.
