We had to get rid of the 'stuff' we had in a 3100 square foot home. It was rather traumatic selling off everything but we have no regrets. We did hang on to some of our collectables and keep them in a small storage garage. You will need to carry a small amount of tools for day to day repairs an the rig. One of the hardest things to do was to pare down the wardrobes. Once you are on the road awhile you can get rid of clothing items you find you do not need. Another challenge was the dishes. My wife loves nice dinnerware and getting her to lighten the load in this area was tough. After awhile she came to realize we could do with only four place settings rather then the eight we started with. She also learned we did not need a cabinet full of glasses. We now keep all pictures on CD and don't keep prints as they take up a lot of room. We also put in a thin LCD TV. It cut down on weight and even gave us a little storage where the big TV used to sit. We sold all our VHS movies and even got rid of the cases the DVDs came in. You will also want to keep cooking utensils to a minimum. Your side trips will give you a good idea of the essentials you will need. I hope this helps. Happy travels.
