WE ALSO HAVE A HONDA WHILE FULL-TIMING. MARY FOLLOWS BEHIND AND THAT'S WHAT WE USE THE HAM RADIOS FOR. WE DEAL BLACKJACK IN LAUGHLIN, NV FOR THE WINTER AND WORK A CASINO AT LAKE TAHOE IN THE SUMMER TAKING 12-15 WEEKS A YEAR TO TRAVEL. I'D HATE TO HAVE OUR COMBINED MILES ALL ON THE V-10 PICKUP. ALSO WE SOMETIMES WORK TWO DIFFERENT CASINOS MAKING TWO VEHICLES NECESSARY

Carol...OOpps one to many zeros.remember I am a senior citizen..be kind..The 1300 miles you guys did while in The RGV would be more typical of what we would do and extra dollars realized by having one less Honda would more than offset driving the gas hog around.

Les, what about renting an economy car while in Spokane? Would that be cost effective? We're toying with looking into that for the two months we spend in the Kansas City area each winter. We make weekly trips to visit my folks. That's 250 miles round trip. Plus each of our kids live from 25 to 32 miles from our rv park so we put on quite a few miles during that time. Still I don't know if it would be cost effective. I should include reduced mileage and wear and tear on the tow vehicle, too, I suppose.

Steve, it could work to have a rental car and i will check into that. My concern is that we are here for 6-7 months and travel alot in Washington State. Both diesel gas prices and maintenance (the more you drive) are not cheap . I have a sister in Ephrata (240 round trip miles) another sister in Wenatchee (360 round trip miles) 2 daughters which = 6 grandkids (3 per daughter in the Spokane Valley (only 50 miles round trip) and 1 daughter which = 3 grandkids in Royal City (240 miles round trip), and we do love to see them often. Considering that we are here 6-7 months or so, we are still thinking about the alternatives..........Les

Les, our car will sit here for 5 months while we are in the NW. Our son will use it once a month to keep it purring (he also likes the A/C). The car is paid for and we have minimal insurance. Our son is a mechanic and does the maintenance on it. If we had to pay storage or had payments on it, it wouldn't be worth it.

Myrna, it sounds like that works out pretty well for you. Our car would sit up in NW for 5 months while we are in Arizona. We would pay cash for an older car have our daughter keep an eye on it while we are gone.....Les

Sounds like having an additional car would work for you Les. Especially having someone watching it and a place to park while you were out of the area. The trick now will be to find a quality used car that is economical yet affordable. Good luck with your final decision.

Thanks Dave. Another reason that we probably will do it is because I may be going to work for a credit union until we head south in the late fall. We would have an extra car for my wife duting the day.......Les

Les,
Wait a second, for a moment there I thought you said work?? I thought you were finished with that and were out enjoying your Montana? That is something I need to start thinking about, finding a new place of employment. Started Physical therapy on the shoulders today, hoping by the end of June to mid July to be well enough to start the search. Weird after working for the same company for 11 years, I had no plans on ever needing to look for a new position. Funny how life changes directions on us without us even knowing it. =) I hope you do not end up working to hard and will still have time to enjoy your coach this summer.

Actually Dave you did hear it right. The word was work, but if you get the right job for the right reasons at the right time and you can leave anytime you want, then it does work for a short time. (Hope I really believe that?......Les

We full time and don't spend a lot of time in one place so can't see having a 2nd vehicle. For us, it would mean 2 drive trains to take care of, 2 engines to change oil, filter, lube, etc. Economically it wouldn't be feasible for us. Plus you have the licenses and insurance on another vehicle.
