Keeping your tires when trading

For those of you who have kept the tires from your current rig when trading ... did you foot the bill for the tire swap or did the dealer?

Ours came with the Trailer King tires on it and I worked with them to put on G614s on the rig before I took possession. They took care of it and I paid the difference we had worked out. I got all 5 tires replaced for a whole lot less than I could have bought them for from a tire dealer and my nephew is one so I get a pretty good price on tires.

Swapped out tires ad rims as part of the trade-deal, it was only a few minutes of labor for the dealer.

Most dealers will do it for "free", but i'd negotiate the whole deal before I brought the issue up.

Negotiate a price first and then request that tires be switched. Our dealer didn't hesitate for one second when we requested it as part of the close.

Replacing the Marathons on our Montana we ordered with 614's was part of the deal. After delivery, I thought about the spare and wanted a 614. The dealer gave me $100 "trade in" for the Marathon on the 614 spare. cost.

The tires on each RV trailer at first retail sale must be the same size as the tire size on the labeling. (FMVSS 571.120 paragraph S10.3).

When swapping tires at the dealership you need to insure the preceding statement is complied with by the dealer. If not, you will always have invalid information on your trailer’s certification label and tire placard.
