Removing Gen. Compartment
Has anyone removed the metal enclosure to gain useful storage? Especially the protruding steel corners with bolt holes for mounting Gen. Thanks in advance for advice. Larry

Larry I removed mine not long after we got it. I didn't think I would get a gen and it gives you alot of storage and its not hard to remove. I still have the conections but I just keep them out of the way. I took out the sheet metal box and the steel frame don't remember what the steel frame did but the front comp is all flat now.

I also removed the sheet metal box, however, I did leave the divider, then I built shelves in there. Nice extra storage.

I have the metal work inside mine and had thought about taking it out since it's unlikely that we would get a generator but is that area waterproof once the metal is out? If so, how is the generator vented?

I didn't remove mine completely, I cut a piece of 3/4" plywood and covered over the bottom sealing the edges with silicone caulk. So far (2 + years) and it doesn't leak.
