New 3611rl inverter inop
Just brought new 3611rl home and refrig won't work on the inverter. I'm not an electrician but I think the batteries may be wired wrong. The positive from the inverter goes to the positive on one battery and the inverter negitive goes to the positive of the other batt

That doesn't seem right if you have 12v batteries in parallel (dual 12V batteries reduces discharge rate). But I think it's the inverter that's wrong. I think the inverter negative should be connected to the other battery negative. I had an inverter on an SOB long time ago, and I'm trying to remember if that's the way it was connected.
Also that might cause the inverter to get fried, but hopefully an electricity expert should be along soon and straighten this all out.

I have an inverter and it is hooked positive battery to pos inverter and negative battery to neg inverter. The two 12volt batteries are hooked in parallel, that is pos to pos and neg to neg.

Do you have 12 volt or 6 volt batteries. If 6 volt that would be correct.

Whether dual sixes in series or dual twelves in parallel, inverter needs to see pos to pos and neg to neg of chassis ground. Just make sure you are 100% correct if you do something, otherwise you own it. John

12v and one battery the negative goes to ground as it should and the other battery negative has nothing on it and no parallel cables.

That is just sad... I am normally, fundamentally and emphatically against regulation. However my recent experience looking for and purchasing, and fixing on our new $50,000 coach showed me, if there were ever an industry in dire need of some standards in construction and codes for wiring and plumbing the RV industry is it. Absolutely a no man's land for anything related to consistency or quality.
