Help with TV hook-up

We have a 2006 RK3000. We have only used our TV with satilite. We were dry camping for a couple of weeks and tried to get reception with the antenna. (others around us had reception) We have a booster and the light comes on so it should be getting power. After several hours of my wife telling me to just leave it alone, I found none of the coax cables were connected to the booster (after taking it out of the wall in the closet). The bedroom tv was however conntected to a coax and there was another coax coming down next to the one the tv was connected to but not connected to anything. I assume this was from the antenna but I didnt know how to connectd to the booster (front or back side) and since the booster in energized I didn't want to fry something. I think it's just a matter of connecting the correct coax. Thanks for any help with this.

Not sure it applies to your age rig, but it does to mine. Email me at dqdick10432@yahoo.com and I'll send you the diagram I have.

My RK3000 has a jumper located along the left side the DVD player on the wall. I use to have to remove it to disconnect up Sat. and then reconnect for Ant.
Hope that helps

Behind the tv in the living room ther are two connections on the outside wall, one for cable and one for satilite. There is also a connection on the wall directly behind the tv. I assume this is for the antenna as well. But, if the antenna is not hooked up the the booster in the bedroom that connection would not do much good. I may be overthinking the problem and I'm sure it's a simple fix.

Mark, I have the same model you have. I think this link should help you if you can identify which lead is coming from the antenae. On mine all the hook ups are on the back. http://www.fishhousesupply.com/images/booster.pdf
Hope this helps, Jim

Do you have the glass TV tubes? My '06 rig has one in the bedroom and a larger one in the living room. These are analog televisions. Besides the booster and the correct wiring, won't one also need a digital to analog converter since I thought TV is now broadcast in digital? Since I've never boondocked, I never tried. One of these days I will swap the glass for digital flat screens so I'm trying to avoid buying the D/A converter.

It sounds like someone re-configured the wiring to support satellite TV in your rig. The pre-2010 models didn't play well with satellite signals. You should be able to correct the wiring between jimcol's link to the PDF of the antenna booster and it's connections, and this link to the wiring diagram for your trailer.
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=37324

The duplex RF connections near the living room TV has to be jumpered together, The booster light in the wall switch has to be on, and you need a digital ready tuner type TV (not the OEM tube model).

Of course doing all this will undo the satellite capability you were using before.

Yes the wiring was reconfigured for satilite by a DISH guy so that's why I'm not sure how they went back for antenna signal however with both diagrams now I think I'm on my way. I did replace the living room tv with a flat screen and the one in the b-room is still glass so I know I'm out of luck there. Guess we'll just have to rough it

Thanks to all for your replies. It was a huge help. Now after I get it all working I'll probably end up getting a Tailgater........go figure.

Thanks again everyone!!!!

Jim could you explain in "electronics of dummies" terms regarding the RF having to be jumpered near the living room tv? Not real sure about what I need to do there.
Thanks

The two RF connector plate near the LR TV has to be "jumpered" to feed the OTA antenna signal to the bedroom. The jumper is just a sort coax cable from one RF connector to the other. Since you have an old boob tube TV in the bedroom, it really isn't needed. The bedroom TV can't handle digital signals.

What many of us did with that generation of Montanas was to add an external RF plug on the outside of the RV. The wall panel in the entertainment center is held on with four screws. Remove the panel and you can access the area where the TV cable comes into the coach. What you want is a dedicated coax from the satellite antenna into the cabinet and feeding the satellite receiver. That way you can feed the TV with a satellite signal or and OTA signal by just selecting the "Source Input" on your flat screen TV.
