Door Locks
I received a safety recall yesterday from WESCO, Fastec Industrial, advising me of a safety issue in the deadbolt lock cylinder on my Montana. You can go to their website for a complete list of the locks covered. The locks were sold between 01/06 and 04/13. This is for those of you who might not get the notice from the company.
The website is: www.fastecindustrial.com

Thank you for passing on the information. While I am not experiencing a problem, my lock is affected by the recall.

Thanks, our 07 is also on the recall.
After going to the website and filling out the recall info this morning, I received a phone call in the afternoon from the manufacture. They will be sending out two lock sets, new keys for the lock set, and a lock set changing tool. Mailing will take two to three weeks. After changing out the lock sets I am to return the old lock sets in a return envelope that they will provide with the new set. Quick response from the manufacture. NOTE: They have a link to a video on how to change out the lock sets. Looks very easy.
Thanks again for the info on this recall.

Just checked mine. One of the codes listed is stamped on one of my keys
but it opens only the pass-thru compartment locks and not the deadbolt. The deadbolt key starts with a G. According to the instructions for checking, if you can remove the key from the deadbolt when it is at 9 o'clock, it needs to be replaced.
Thanks for posting.

Our key removes in the 9 o'clock position, so I guess I'll call tomorrow.

My FIC lock only locks/unlocks the basement doors, not the trailer door.
My trailer door is marked Global Link, so I guess I am ok.

Well received the replacement locks and started to replace this morning. I watched the video which shows replacing the "FIC" or bottom lock only. I received two cylinders with a FIC key in each as the replacements. The written instructions states you replace both lock cylinders on the door (top and bottom). My question is you no longer have the "Global Link" key for the top lock and apparently two FIC keys/locks and so do the two new FIC keys work interchangeably on both new lock cylinders? I can call them Monday but want to hear what other owners have done and hopefully complete this project.

My brain just kicked in! My old FIC keys also open the storage compartment doors. Does the new FIC keys work on the baggage doors also? I doubt it! This simple five minute job is starting to get complicated.

Ok I checked my locks. In the 9 o'clock poison the key will not come out. So per the instructions I am good to go. But just to make sure I locked both the door and the dead bolt and tried to open the door from the inside. No can do the dead bolt would not disengage. I called the manufacture and explained what was going on and she said they will send me two new locks. I would be very careful and do the door test I did just to be sure. It would be a terrible thing to be locked in the reg and have a fire or a medical emergency and not be able to get out.

I just tried to call to see if they could send lock cylinders out to fit my existing keys. After several rings, I got a message that they were sorry, but the mailbox was full and could not take any more messages. Now may be a time to see my local locksmith.
