Dead battery

I'm a new owner of a 2955RL. After bring it home it has been parked in my yard for about 2 weeks. Today I went out to hook up and discovered that the battery was completly dead! To my knowledge nothing was left on in the unit. Should I have disconnected the battery while sitting in the yard. Did not have this problem with my last unit.
