Roof Seam Question

While checking my rubber roof the other day ('2000 305FKS travel trailer), I noticed the front of the rubber roof was fastened down with an aluminum channel and a row of screws. This channel is similar to the vertical channel at the corners of trailers. It does NOT, however, have the white vinyl insert. My question is whether or not any of yours has a similar channel and if so are the screws simply caulked (like mine) or is there a vinyl insert that I may have lost. I'm going to reseal mine with Eternabond but want to be sure it is like it was originally first (we bought it used).
