What type of hitch do you have? My first guess it needs to be lubed on the underside, the latch mechanism is probably dry

Could also be the angle that you're sitting at. If the truck is all the way forward on my hitch the jaws won't release. I have to let the truck roll back a little and then it will release easily.

Any forward pressure on the hitch jaw will make the release handle very hard to pull. As a final step in unhitching, put the truck in reverse and slightly back into the rig and at the same time set the emergency brake to prevent the truck from rolling forward.

Like Steve, I almost always have to put the truck in reverse and let it ease backward into the trailer to get the pressure off the hitch jaws. Release is always very easy after that.

Don't just use the grease fitting. Take the plate off, flip it over and check to where the clamps move, there is usually sliding parts that may be getting dry. that way you will know for sure.

I have a 16K Husky and Racerjoe has the hot tip. Remove the head and lube all the sliding or rotating parts. That avoids any sticking mechanicals. If you were on a non-level site, you may have to move the truck forward or back a touch, after getting the RV legs on the ground, to take the pressure off of the hitch so it will unlatch.

Get some white lithium grease in a spray can,,,, now and then I spray all moving parts with it. Don't got to tear it apart to grease it since use can usually get all the parts with the spray or with the red extention nozzle....\
