disc brakes

Thinking about converting to disc brakes on my 2016 3791RD. I was told that the integrated brake controller on my 2005 F350 may not work. Does anyone know. Thanks for any help.

I don't claim to be an expert but have recently done research and am currently in the process of converting our 2012 to Kodiak disc brakes using the Hydrastar Actuator #HBA-16. I am also converting to an oil bath lube system using Kodiak parts and will be installing all Timken USA made bearings.I have already installed the actuator and the brake lines and have all bearings and 1 axle kit on hand and other parts on the way.

To answer your question I recommend you first decide which actuator you are going to purchase and then go to their website and it should have a chart that will specify whether or not your controller will work.

You can get a lot of useful information at etrailer.com.

I went to e trailer.com and checked on the Hydrastar HBA-16 actuator and it shows the 2005-2006 Ford as being compatible but the 2007 and 2008 are not. Further shows the 2009 and up being compatable.

On my 2016 Chevy 2500HD with a integrated brake controller, the disc brakes would not work. I have a Actulink 1600 actuator on the trailer. Per Actulink I had to splice a set of trailer electric brake magnets in line with the truck and the trailer before the actuator. Brakes work fine now.

I don't know about your brake controller, but disc brakes sure are nice if you need to stop in a hurry

Although I ordered my other parts from trailer.com and Amazon I did not buy my Hydrator actuator from either of them. I bought my actuator from Eastern Marine because it was $35 cheaper fro0m them even after paying shipping. Received it in 3 days using standard UPS ground shipping.
