Moving couch and covering furnace vent

2007 3400RL. Would like to get rid of the "boat anchor " OEM recliners, move the couch to the rear of the coach, and put theater seating where the couch is now. My concern-there is a furnace vent in the floor between the recliners. If we move the couch to the rear the couch will be over a furnace floor vent. The legs on the OEM couch are about two inches high. I am concerned about obstructing the air flow from that furnace vent and damaging the heating system. Anyone done this? Should I look at raising the legs on the couch by "shimming"? What is the minimum clearance I need over the furnace vent? TIA.

You should also be concerned about the distance from the back of the couch to the front so it clears the slides. On our 3402, we have to turn the recliners so the slides can come in, and a sofa wouldn’t work for us, regardless of the furnace vent. I don’t think the couch would stop heat from coming out, as it would still move, just would have to go sideways.

Like said ... you may not have enough room for a couch and let the slides clear when retracted. You can buy these little plastic air deflectors about anywhere. They would shoot the air out into the room from under the couch if it does fit.

If your couch covers the floor vent and you need to use a deflector I'm pretty sure your slides will not close because your couch will be sticking out of the back section to far. We have done what you want to do BUT our OEM couch is just short enough in depth that the slides close and not hit the couch. The slides miss the couch by about 2" or less so we're good. We have friends that tried the same thing but their unit had a deeper couch and the slides would not close. Take a measuring tape and measure the distance your couch sticks out from the wall presently, then take that tape and measure out from the wall in the rear of the Monte. Don't forget that your window handles also stick out some so allow for that also.

We had 2007 3400RL and the factory couch would go in the back. They changed the couch in 2008 and the front to back was longer and it would not fix the rear. So you need to check that the slides miss the couch. I did not have any furnace problems.
