Storage Under Refrigerator
We attended the Fall Rally in Goshen and became very interested in several of the "Show and Tell" modifications we saw.
We are interested in creating storage space under the refrigerator for the whole-house vacuum equipment. But,... After removing the front panel, we see several wires plus what looks like a fuse (about 1 x 3 inches, white plastic) fastened with one screw to the carpeted floor.
What is this "fuse" thing?
Would it hurt to move it closer to the wall and re-fasten it?
What about the wires in general? (There is also an AC line for a wall outlet.)
Anything else we should know to keep us out of trouble?
The necessary piano hinge and magnetic closures don't seem to be a problem. However, what's the best technique for making sure the hinge is properly aligned?

Lynn, Ours has wires under it also. We just make sure we don't just shove things under there. Maybe someone else can give you advice about relocating the fuse. I used a long piano hinge with the push-pull latches. We also keep potatoes under there.

The wires are for the refrigerator. You should be able to relocate them as you see fit. As stated, just be careful what you stuff in there. We store our vacuum accessories. That was one of our first mods and can be seen in our mod link in our signature page. We opted for the spring loaded black hinges to avoid having to install a latch.

It is a bit more complicated to do, but when we made our under fridge (and under stove) storage areas, I made them as drawers, so that anything else under there would be protected. We keep vacuum parts under the fridge, and pots and pans under the stove (can get hot there). You can also make a little tip-out tooth brush and tooth paste holder in front of the bathroom sink. (At least you can in our model, maybe not all).

Ontmont - Keystone must have taken your idea for the stove - our 2007 has a factory under stove drawer!

I did the door under the fridge thing in our Big Sky, I used 2 self closing hinges as the opening was only 4 inches high. I couldn't get anything but a stubby screw driver in there and a latch would have decreased the opening size even farther. As for the wires, the white thing is a plug and since we have the double door unit there were two separate plugs. I just unscrewed them and screwed them to the side wall. Works fine... Dave
