pin box bolt torque specs.

hoping someone here has this info as I could not find it.
my 3720RL sits little nose high I have the hitch in the truck set as low as possible.
looking at the pin box I have one notch adjustment left on it and want to raise the box to that last notch effectively lowering my nose.
currently I have 9 inches between top of bed rail and bottom of the trailer.
so my question is what are the torque specs on those bolts attaching the pin box to the trailer?

and also after I do this what would you suggest the minimum clearance should be between top of bed rails and bottom of trailer?

thanks

I don't remember off hand what size those bolts are. But here is an easy to read torque chart.

http://americanboltcorp.com/tech/techtorque.pdf

6" clearance between the rails and bottom of trailer is generally considered the minimum.

someone mentioned moving from an 80 to 85 - that is my move next year, along with upgrade to Sailun Tires. Make sure when checking truck rail height to 5er to measure front and back on bed. Mine is closer in rear

This link is the installation instructions for the Morryde pin box, and has the torques for the various bolts that can be used.

Something know one has mentioned is the fact that the bolts should not be reused do to being stretched from the first torqueing. I believe grade 5 bolts are used but grade 8 may be better.

2 fists together for the height on the bed rails. Always checking since I broke a pin box in Alaska which is probably the worst thing that can happen other than an accident.

We replaced the original Lippert pin box with a Morryde. Used Gr. 8 fine thread bolts.
140 ft. Lbs. Not easy to get inside the pin box but possible.

I used a long box end wrench to back up the nuts inside the box, last year to replace the bolts after having the pin box removed to have the area above welded where it had developed cracks in the frame, as well as another area of the frame that had a major failure. I used grade 8 bolts 5/8" X 11, as recommended in the MorRyde manual, as I have holes slightly over 5/8".

If im not mistaken, the 5/8 grade 8 bolts require 250 fp of torque. I remember having a hard time getting them there.

250 ft. Lbs. Is correct, I stand corrected. Now I remember why I bought that new torque wrench. And yes, I did have a hard time getting them that tight.
