Departing MOC - thanks to all!

After 13 years as generally satisfied Montana owners (2003 Mountaineer 5er and 2009 3400RL), we are moving on to an SOB with mixed emotions. We decided recently it was time to upgrade to a rig with some more creature comforts/conveniences and a bit more suited to the longer times we are spending in the rig now that DW is retired. The short list came down to the Big Sky 382, Montana 3440 and a Landmark San Antonio. Tough call ultimately, but the soon-to-be new rig seemed a bit more solid inside and didn't see as many fit/finish issues as I was seeing in the other models we were looking at, though after owning RVs for 22 years I know I will find some! Montana had a couple of bells and whistles we won't get, but can live without. Not trying to sell anything here as I have been happy with our Montanas (except the decals which have cost me on this trade in - grrrrr!) Really the purpose of this post was to thank all of the members here who have been an invaluable resource during our time here. Without all of you, negotiating all of the bumps in the road of RV ownership would have been much more difficult. I can only hope the new brand forum is half as active and helpful as MOC has been. Hopefully it will be just as helpful as we undoubtedly deal with all of the initial hiccups of a new rig. Thanks again to all and I'll wave every time I see a Montana as I still feel like part of the community. Happy Trails!

Thanks! I may just do that. Let's face it, a lot of the things that go wrong are not brand specific, but issues with Lippert, LCI, Dometic, Norcold, etc. and the wealth of knowledge on how to fix it here at MOC is most impressive. Plus, DW's sister, whose family camps with us frequently has a High Country, so we'll still be indirectly connected to Montana.

Butch and Sharon, you can stay with the MOC, just not suppose to talk about the new SOB. We faced the same decision 3 years ago and now have a another new unit on order. We looked at all the brands that have the front bath and in the end decided to remain with the same brand.
The MOC is probably the best RV Forum on the Web and doesn't get into the name calling and slamming everyother brands like some of the forum. Best of luck on what you decide to do.

MHS - will do. I agree about MOC - no slamming of SOBs is a plus. I stopped reading the Open Roads forum for that very reason. I am not leaving a disgruntled Montana owner - still a fan overall, lots of bang for the buck IMO, just found something else that fit our needs a bit better. By the way, we went into a 3791 at CW...nice!! Not the right floor plan for us, but that storage is incredible!

Stay with us! Your experiences going down the road can be a benefit to us all. As you said, most things in this lifestyle are not brand specific.

Best wishes with the new rig. I'm sure it's ok if you decide to take a peek here and offer an opinion now and then. Besides, what happens to your number, 9143? Does it get retired, like Ted Williams or Bobby Orr?
