Info - Electrical Problem - Wiring under slides

New 3655FL. Experienced a popped 15 amp AC CB (in the converter unit). It is the circuit serving the kitchen outlets, ceiling fan/light and dinette light (AC). After several unsuccessful reset attempts, became convinced that there was a real problem in the circuit, not just a bad CB.

Found a direct short to the frame under the dinette slide, at the forward outside corner of the slide. The wiring makes a sharp 90 degree bend there, and then goes up into the wall area. There is a long spring under the slide, at right angles to the wiring harness, which keeps tension on the wiring harness to keep it out of the way during retraction. That spring was putting a large amount of tension on the harness, and, as a result, the harness chaffed through at the 90 degree bend and caused a direct short to the frame after a very few slide extension/retraction cycles.

Fixed with some tape, and a small split section of radiator hose for protection at the 90 degree bend. Found the same condition beginning at the same basic location under the bedroom slide. Applied the same fix. Keystone was notified about a week ago.

If you experience a popped 15 amp CB servicing either the living room, kitchen or bedroom outlets, might give that area under one or the other slides a quick check. You might want to do that anyhow, as a safety precaution.

I'll let you all know of the response (or lack thereof) from Keystone.

Best Regards,

PJ & Nan
