GoodYear Endurance

Anyone tried a set of the USA made GoodYear Endurance?
I was thinking of trying their 255/85-16, rated 4080# @ 80psi and are 33.1" tall.

Taller than current 235/80-16, would make trailer easier to level w/truck, and getting the Anderson jack blocks under pads too.

So far I haven't seen any bad reviews on the Endurance tire. Would be interested in how the taller tire fits under a Montana, particularly with IS.

On my last Montana I swapped tires the day I purchased it. I put Sailun 235/85/16. My new Montana arrived with Sailun tires. Not sure why anyone would pay more for Endurance when Sailun has a long term rep as the best trailer tire.

The Endurance is 31.4" in diameter v. the G614 at 30.7" that works out to a 0.2" height increase, I doubt you will notice it and it won't affect hooking up.

Tire construction baffles me. The Endurance is a Load Range E (i.e. 10 ply) tire good for ~4K lns at max 80 P.S.I. The G614 (and the Sailun 637) are load range G (i.e. 14 ply) tires good for ~3500 (G614) or ~4k lbs. at 110 P.S.I..

I would think a 14 ply tire is stronger and can carry a heavier load than 10 ply. How a Load Range 10 ply E tire is rated to carry the same wight as a Sailun is beyond me. But as the Sailuns have a terrific track record and are cheaper than the Endurance, guess which ones I have?

I put GY Endurance on our last 35' Montana Mountaineer when I had it. Our 2019 came with Rainer's and I have already changed them out with new Sailuns. I think the Sailun is a better, heavier tire and gets good ratings from RV owners. I would look there first before the GYE.

You didn't read the post, 255/85-16 are 33.1" additional load comes from size increase

The Sailum has a better record than any of the GY tires and cost less.

I quit running e load tires on my Montana units years ago, and strongly recommend G load tires for anyone with a heavy trailer.

After Goodyear gave us the marathon that supposedly could handle the weight, we should believe the marketing data on their load range e endurance? Me personally, no way in .... I will stick with my load range h tires.

I know all Jayco Travel Trailers, 5th Wheels and Toyhaulers come factory with the Goodyear Endurance tires. They also make some very heavy RV's just like our Montana's.

If you decide to go with the larger 255/85 let us know how they fit and perform. I'd much rather have a tire made in the US and will be looking at the Endurance this spring.

Thats where I saw the first set of the 255's, on a 41' Jayco toy hauler.

I have Sailuns, but GY Endurance would be my second choice if they had my size.

I've had Sailuns on my last 2 5ers. I'd not change if had to wait a few days.

Sailuns for me. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Once I have a product that works for me I have a tendency to stick with it.

We did a 16000K trip up to Inuvik with our SOB. It had Goodyear Endurance tires. They seemed fine on pavement. But the Dempster highway did all of them in. We lost two and the others were junk when we got back to Dawson City. We replaced them there. We replaced the SOB when we got home. It didn't do well either.

We also did Yukon and Alaska in 2015. Replaced 2 tires on trip but caught both before they blew out. Inspect them every time I stop. Did my trip with a Cardinal 5 th wheel. No issues. Have a Montana now and no way would it survive a trip up there.

I would be more concerned with how close they would run to both the wheel well and to each other. Approximately 2" larger diameter equals 1" radius. That 1" radius per tire puts them 2" closer together - and that 2" may be too much on some TT/5ers

While the GY Endurance tire is a nice tire you’d be much better off going to the Sailun S637 series 14 ply G rated tire and high pressure metal valve stems.. the tires will outlast any E rated tire on the market...

I have about 10,000 miles so far on my GY Endurance tires with no issues. At the time I bought them they were cheaper than Sailuns. Tires are kind of like Trucks; you will find that lots of people think that the brand they own is the best, and all the rest is garbage.
