5 G614's for $825.00

At the Rally someone suggested to me that I call Goodyear, ask for a supervisor, and tell them I didn't want the Marathons on my rig. I came home and thought about it and since I did call tobacco stores in my elementary school days to ask if they had Prince Albert in a can I figured what could it hurt. Called Goodyear customer service, asked for a supervisor, didn't get one but the guy I spoke to listened to what I had to say. I told him I bought a 2010 Montana brand new in May and since then had seen and heard nothing but bad things on the threads of several forums about the Marathons. I told him that Goodyear knows and I know they don't belong on that heavy a rig, but even though we didn't do it, Goodyear and I would have to deal with the results as I went down the road. What could they do? He put me on hold a long time and then came back and directed me to take the tires to the nearest Goodyear dealer. For me 40 miles away. I took the Monty to them, they measured the wear and got all the info from the tires, called Goodyear and they offered me 5 614's mounted and balanced for $825.00 + My Marathons. They actually apologized for the expense since my Marathons were built in 2009 and they took $25 off the 2009 price and gave me the rest off the 614's. If the Marathons were newer they would have charged me a few dollars less. Still made me a very happy camper

It's good to hear Goodyear stepping up to the plate (I wish they would address the Marathon 'problem' by design, manufacturing, or whatever change necessary). Keystone should likewise step up to the plate and put 614's on their units instead of the Marathons. Their wheels are already rated for the higher pressure, at least mine and many others are. We forked over more than twice your amount for five G614's. Money we felt we had to spend to feel safe, not just a desired upgrade. I hope your new tires give you peace of mind and long trouble free service.

To my thinking, this entire issue lies at the feet of Keystone. They knowingly install these dangerous POS Marathons as OEM on their product when they have the choice to put a safe quality tire on. If they cared what customers thought, they would install G614s or similar as OEM on their 5th wheel RVs. If Keystone refused to use these tires anymore I believe that would get Goodyear's attention. Nuff said!
