B&W Hitch Help!

I need some help from my fellow B&W Hitch owners. I noticed today the top part of the hitch is moving more from side to side more than I remember it moving before.
If you have this hitch can you please look to see if the gas strut is attached at the base by a bolt going up into the strut. I could have just not noticed this before but if there is a bolt which goes up into the botom of the strut from the hitch head base I have busted my hitch.
I was traveling west in parts of Texas and Oklahoma on Sunday with some fierce north(side) wind. I am wondering if the rough road and side wind cause the bolt to bust where it goes into the strut.

Thanks in advance!
Phil

Okie Guy, I had the same thing happen, I called the phone number on the hitch. They sent me a new shock absorber at no charge. Call them, they are very helpful. I did have to remove the pivot bolt to replace it. Bill

Thanks Bill,

I am at work and just noticed this when I came back from lunch. I thought something was awry but just wanted to make sure before we take off next week.
Thanks for your help!
Phil

For some reason, I am not getting what the problem was/is. I have the B&W. Inquiring minds want to know.

Okie Guy, I can see no danger involved if you continue to use it. The gas strut only keeps the plate level.

Stiles, on the right side of the hitch there is a small gas strut. The bolt that mounts the bottom of the strut broke on mine.

I called B&W this morning. Man are they some friendly people. He told me he has a new strut and bolt on the way to my house. I am so glad I went with their hitch.

Update...
The day after I talked to Chad on the phone the new part was at my house when I came home from work. It took about 10 minutes and I had the new strut installed. What a great company B&W is to deal with.
