Monroe Retrofit Kit
The Monroe Retrofit Kit seems like the way to go for adding shocks on a Keystone Product that didn`t come with shocks. Has anyone here bought the kit and installed it?? Does the kit include the parts for both sides(Left side and right side) of the axle, I mean did you have to order 4 kits for 2 axles or 2 kits for 2 axles?? I called and e-mailed Monroe and I`m still waiting for a reply. Called the PPL RV in Texas that sells them online and since we all have 10" I-beam frames we need 2 different kits, and they want $66 and $23 for each kit plus the shocks which average $20 each. PPL didn`t know the answer and they sell them!!
At Canadian Tire in Canada they want $52 and $17 each and they didn`t know the answer either. So its much cheaper here, and I will get ahold of my favourite etrailer and see if they sell the kits. I am really enjoying this site as there is a world of info from each of you who respond. I`m definetly getting hooked and sometimes read it 2 times a days for new info, Thx to all who repond to all questions, that is what makes this site so great.

uhftx -Great info and the price isn`t bad either. I`ll have to order from the shock warehouse and get my hands dirty. Up here I can`t find the RB513 kit, no one seems to have them. All kinds of RB512 kits. All the retail stores say Monroe doesn`t even have them. Thx again and have a great summer camping!!

Try and Call Champion Trailer at 1-800-229-6690. I don't see it on their web page but they have a lot of trailer supplies. Their techsupport page has a wealth of information on axles/brakes/bearings ....

Al's Trailer Sales Salem, OR.

They can be purchased from any RV dealer or parts store using the Stagparkway catalog
http://www.stagparkway.com/Contact.aspx
I hope this helps some. I'm surprised that shockwarehouse was out of stock.
They seem to be the leading supplier online.
Good Luck
Chris

Chris, you are a great help!! I called the Monroe customer service line 1-800-651-4946 and they had no RB512 kits listed on their computer and 1 RB513 kit. I asked about when they would start production on these kits again and they said 40-60 days!!?? Shockwarehouse has been excellent in finding out things for me and have been keeping up to date with info. I went on the Dexter site and they have a retro kit too. The price also includes the shocks!! At roughly $84 a kit its could be another choice. It looks like I`ll have to weld the upper brackets to the I-beam. The Monroe shocks just look better. I`ll check out these other sources you gave me today and hopefully one of them will have the Monroe kit Thx

Well I cancelled the Monroe Kit from Shockwarehouse. Seems they won`t be building any kits soon as the are missing a few key components to make the product. I went on the Dexter site and got their kit for $167.72, after I talked to the engineer at Dexter to make sure they would fit with an Al-ko axle. He said that it should be no problem as the axle is the same size as theirs, 3" diameter and the leaf springs 1 1/2" wide. Comparing price between Monroe $125.36 shocks NOT included and Dexter $167.72 shocks included plus availability I went with Dexter. Does anyone have the Dexter kit, how is the stability and ride? Do you feel a difference? And is there less mess in the cupboards after you arrive to your destination. Thx
