Bob and Carol Brand new to EVERYTHING RV

I retired in August 2016. My wife and I were living in Ohio. We decided to sell our house and buy and RV. We are almost there. Our daughter was married early July 2017. We sold our house a couple of weeks later. We moved to South Dakota to set up residency. We bought a truck Ram Bighorn 3500 8 foot bed. We bought a Montana 3721RL which we will be picking up a the dealer next Tuesday and heading to the Yogi Bear RV campground in Sioux Falls. We have a lot to learn and are looking forward to our new adventures. We plan to head Toward New Mexico starting around October 18th.
Oh, we have no experience with RV's.

I understand ~~ I moved to South Carolina 4 months before I retired in 2003 FROM OHIO. The one thing ~~ I bought the F350 not a Ram fan but all the big 3 are good today. Good luck and have fun!

Welcome to the forum! We are also SD residents, but did not have to move there to establish legal residency. With no experience with RVs, strongly recommend you bring an experienced friend or hire a mobile tech to inspect your rig and participate in the PDI/walkthru before you pull it off the lot.

Welcome to the forum! We are also heading to NM at the end of this week. By the middle of October we will be at The Ranch, an Escapee park in Lakewood, NM (just north of Carlsbad) where several members here own lots and others stop by from time to time. Come and see us if you're in the neighborhood. We're also full timers.

Go to a large empty parking lot such as a church during the week or a school on weekends and practice driving. You have a long rig and need to learn how to turn corners without running over the curb.
Then practice backing into a site. Get a couple of small orange pylons and put them on the parking lot and practice backing in to them. I try for pull thru sites, but sometimes you need to backup!!!
And I read about and knew what I should do, but I still didn't go thru the PDI before paying. Be prepared to walk away until they fix everything. Once you pay, you loose all leverage to get things done.
Good luck
