2006 Mt. Shasta Campout Activities

Hey folks,

What would you like to do while in the area over Memorial Day weekend in 2006? You might check out the following sites to get an idea of possibilities and then post your suggestions. Maybe we can generate some group activities.

This months issue of Sunset Magazine has a great article on Shasta and surrounding places of interest. We're going to bring it along and maybe try one or two.

We want to rent a boat next time. Didn't get to it this time. They have "party boats". Sounds fun.

Hey a party boat sounds really fun. We have a pontoon at the colorado river and are they ever fun. We are game for anything. This will be our first time at the Shasta Rally so we will do anything that you guys decide. Paul and Kathi

Golfing is still a great option. We had a great time at the May Rally, we should do it on a day that we do not have the show and tell scheduled.

We like the pontoon boat rental idea, too! It would be fun to go on a Lake Siskiyou cruise! As a former boat owner, Mike volunteers to be the Captain.

about 347 days and countin ....

Hey Amy, If we are able to go, and I think we probly could, Mel is a Chief Engineer on his boat, sounds like all we would need is a couple more people to be the deck hands and we would have a full crew! sounds like fun.

Glad to hear we have some sea legs. We are not boat savy so this is great. When I was very young I use to do some boating but after my water skiing accident (almost drowned) I haven't done any. This should be fun. One more reason for May to get here quick. Since this is a holiday weekend, we may need to make advance arrangements. I'll contact the campground and inquire. The party barge only holds 2000 lbs. but they have a super barge that holds 5000 lbs. that is $250 for four hours or $70 per hour (2005 prices). That would make the four hours less than $10 per person.
Happy trails.......................

Sue,

The weather can be unpredictable that time of year, rain, not snow, and even though the weather was great this past Memorial Day it didn't appear there were many patio boats rented out that weekend. I don't think we'd need to reserve one this early. Also, the lake is only about 460 surface acres and it doesn't take 4 hours to navigate the entire shoreline. So, we may want to hold off for awhile and see how many folks would be interested and how it can be scheduled around other things they may want to do. Just my 2 cents worth!

Thanks Don. I wasn't thinking so much of navigating the shoreline as I was just visiting and relaxing. Maybe Margee can even do her readin', nappin', and nothin'! I won't reserve unless we get a whole lot of people interested.

It sounds like something we would enjoy. We were back there on July 4th and there was plenty of action on the lake that weekend.

So far it looks like at least 10 people interested in the boat idea. We can coordinate this with other activities as we get closer to May. We also want to do the Mexican restaurant again. Great food and ohhhhh so those Margaritas! Also we had so much fun at the potluck and there was so much food left, would a leftovers night work?
Happy trails..................

The boat thing sounds great to us if the weather is going to be okay. Although, guess we could take raincoats and have coffee with Baileys!!!

Now you are talking my language! We don't have to committ so if it is raining, we don't have to go. Let's all pray for the same great weather we had this year.

We made our reservations for the Lake Siskiyou get together in 2006. The loop where most of you are staying was full so we are in site #309. We'll be arriving on May 25th. We've been to this campground several times, and there is so much to do in the area, we know it will be a great campout. Pam loves spending hours in the quilt store in town which is one of her favorites.

rphoward....I have you signed up on the master list! I do think you will enjoy this group. We had a very informal and relaxing Rally that was highlighted with a potluck dinner on the Saturday evening and a "show & tell" of rigs on the Sunday.

Your campsite is across from ours and I think ToolManRoy is next to us so you won't be alone...
Welcome!
