How long do Sailuns last?

Please bear with me, I'm still a novice.

My 2018 3811MS has the Sailun ST235/80r16 tires.
They are 3 years old and are showing wear with 33,000 +/- miles.
How long do they last?
What's a good mile mark to replace them?

I see walmart sells them for about $160 each.
Is this a good price?
I appreciate any help.

Please and thanks.

Trailer tires seldom wear out unless something is wrong with the suspension. Most experts say that tires need to be replaced at 5-7 years of age. I stretched to 6 years once and had a blowout so I don't go by 5 years anymore. If your tires are original you need to look at the dates (many times on the inside of the tires) since manufacturers fequently put old tires on. My 2017 has 2016's on it so next year is the year for me. I haven't started looking yet, but I believe that is a decent price.

Having had a blowout with extensive damage...1 1/2 year old tires, I replace tires at the 4th year of use. They age out generally vs "wearing" out; sometimes much quicker depending on usage, storage etc.

Goodyear says to replace at 5 years. The stores aren’t supposed to even fix a flat past 5 years.

Saliuns

3 weeks ago I bought 5 Saliuns (spare tire included) for $778 (going off memory) from SimpleTire.com and a nearby Discount Tire mounted all 5 for $279. The day I was shopping SimpleTire was cheaper than Walmart. I did not do extensive research or shopping.

The shipping delivery was odd (to me). 3 tires arrived one day, then 1 tire the next day, and 1 tire on day 3. I did do research on where to get the tires mounted using google street view to jog my memory. The closest Discount Tire store in Georgetown has some steep driveway approaches and low tree limbs that I did not want to run into. The next closest store had low trees and narrow sharp turns into the service bays parking area. I went to the Pflugerville store 25 miles away because they had the best access for the Monte...no trees and plenty of room to turn and backup.

Those tires are HEAVY dogs!!! Once I had the Monte hooked up - I had to figure out where to carry the tires to Discount Tire. I used a step stool and loaded 3 into the truck bed between the tool box and the hitch. It looked too tight and like the RV nose might hit a tire if I had a tight turn. I decided to carry 3 tires in the back seat. The seats were already covered because our rear seat is where the dogs ride. They fit with no problems and were much easier to load than the truck bed.

Many of us that travel a lot replace the OEM tires within then first year or sooner Goodyear G614 or Sailun are the most popular choices. Most of us put a 5 year limit on the tire with frequent checks for defects. we are on the 2nd set of G614s on our 13 3402 Montana.

Goodyears have warranty up to seven years.

The new tire coverage of this warranty ends when the treadwear indicators become visible or ve (5) years from the date of purchase, whichever occurs rst. The only exception is weather cracking, which carries a seven (7) year warranty from the date of purchase
or when the treadwear indicators become visible, whichever occurs rst. Without proof of purchase, date of manufacture will be used to determine eligibility.

How long your RV tires will last depends on many variables ..
.. are they covered when not being towed to protect from UV exposure
.. moderate tow speeds of 65 or less
.. cold inflation psi
.. overall outside ambient road temp.

Towing in 110 degree weather versus 85 degree weather the tires take a beating at that higher outside air temp

Sailun S637 series, Hercules 901 series and most any 14 ply G rated tire should last at least 5 years barring road hazard damage

The GY G614 tire would not be my choice for two reasons... over $300 per tire and less load capacity since the GY is an LT tire rated at 3750 versus 4400

Was the blowout a Sailun?

Steve,

Since you can buy a new set for the price of 4-5 tanks of gas I replace every 3-4 years. The downside of losing a tire and slowing a trip makes it an easy choice.

Sailun, how long they last?

Where is the wear showing? What type of wear?

If tread wear is thin, I would not mess around. Remember that a trailer helps you brake and tires should help channel water in wet weather. Sidewall damage isn't good either.

My Sailuns have 15,000, miles and I can see that 15,000 more would probably be the end for me. They take a lot of abuse.

This is the first time I've seen this question asked about Sailun tires on this or the other three RV sites I peruse, but it's a good question. So far, I've not heard of anyone wearing them out, or aging them out. Used to be the typical ST tire was considered old at three years and doomed to blow out in the next five minutes LOL, but Sailuns are not typical. My benchmark will be what Michelin said about its Class A and C 16" RV tires I've used in the past, which is have them inspected at around five years, and expect them to need replacement around 6-8 years because of aging regardless of tread depth.

Based on the foregoing, I'd only replace the tires now if they are experiencing uneven wear, or if you have less than 3/32" on the tread overall. And, uneven wear may be caused by under or over inflation, and/or axle/spindle alignmnent. The Walmart price is good, but simpletire.com generally has the best price.

5-7 years
but i'd go with the ST235/85R16

simple tire is having a 20% off if you sign up.

The GY G614 tire predecessor to the Sailun is only warranted by GY for 4 years. After that tire replacement and damage repair is on you. I learned this the hard way and I don't think I will let my Sailuns go much past that either.

This doesn’t pertain to sailuns but our last trip out with brand name e rated tires that were four years old we lost two tires one on the way there and one one the way back. The trailer has a new set of g rated on it now for the next trip in couple of weeks

We've just completed our third year on Sailuns and the wear indicates to me I will likely go another 3 though I may change my mind after 2.
I did have one wear badly due to a bent axle. The best price I got for the replacement was from Walmart delivered (shipped from SimpleTire)

I have known people going 10 years w/o issue because they didn't know to replace trailer tires when they age out. I would not recommend that.

Wowza...$279 for mounting? I had four Sailuns mounted at a local tire chain, Tire Tracks, for 20 bucks per tire.

I disagree , not always the cheapest at Simple tire, or the best . My experience was not that great at Simple tire , got 9 month old tires, sent them back. Got five from Walmart ,shipping was free ,and faster . Plus they were cheaper ,and payed $70 at a local tire shop to mount ,and balance all five .

Prices vary from time to time. It pays to shop, Amazon, Walmart, even ebay, (SimpleTire sells via ebay) for the best price.
