Northern Ca. Boondocking?

My wife and I are looking for some nice boondocking places in northern California, We like the woods with a lake and streams. I don't think my ,signature says my truck is a 4x4 but I still am towing a 32' 5ver. Any ideas?
Thanks, Mel

I need to get up to speed on "boon docking" but I live 2 hours south of the Oregon border so I can tell you where not to go. Unfortunately the fires keep the air pretty bad right now. I have a great idea for you if you want to dry camp.

Anywhere, we’re in Washington right now. Distance is not a problem nor is water. We are always looking for new to us places, 50 years ago my dad would take us kids to some amazing places, but I went to a couple of them and they are closed to camping. I recently heard about a place on the Rouge River in Oregon, near a place called Lobster bar. Maybe we will check it out on the way back to California. If the fire in the area is not a problem?

Lobster Bar might be a little smokey yet. In Northern Ca.....just ssouth of Mt. Shasta off of Hwy 89...there are some great campground on the McCloud River with a lot of waterfalls you camp next to. And also...quite a few up by Diamond Lake,,,Oregon.

try blue lake. easten side of the creast.
the turn off hwy 88, is about five or so miles west of where 89 from south lake junction is at.
plenty of dry camp just off the hwy. the rd to blue lake is paved now.
it is a in and out rd. not plowed in the winters.
as of today, ( sept 21 2018) no fires in that area.
(cost) food n fuel in minden nv. alpine county, ca.has nothing.
but deer season is here in ca. so becarefull out in the trees.

Camped a few years ago in the McCloud river area. GREAT trout fishing. Next time I'm bringing my smoker. Didn't go to Lobster bar to smokey. Ended up stopping a few days at Eagle lake, not boondocking but it was nice.

No limit, we travel quite often to our off grid property in Washington right on the Canadian border. So we love finding new places on the way.

What do you lack for boondocking? For us a little solar, a nice battery bank, a generator, a 40 gallon water barrel with a harbor freight 12 volt water pump and we've stayed off grid for a little over a month. Oh and a tote for the gray water. Black tank is never a problem.
