BEDROOM A/C CYCLING

On our 2013 3900FB Montana the bedroom A/C keeps cycling on and off frequently.
This is also at night time. This unit has a remote sensor in the bedroom. When I say frequently I mean it runs for 5 minutes then off for 2 to 3 minutes then back on again. It is very annoying. The front
A/C runs fine. I don't think this is normal. Is there a problem with this unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Are the vents pointed towards the temperature sensor? It may help to turn them away from the sensor. Just a thought.

Once you've got the vents pointed the right way, you may also wish to close the dump and use only the vents. This will make it run longer and also not dump a whale of cold air right on you at first.

My sensor is behind the door, if it is 3/4 open it directs cold air to the sensor

We run our fan all the time and the cycling is not as noticeable. Also makes constant white noise. We do not run the bedroom AC unless it is very warm out.

Thanks so far for the replies. But I think my big question is does this sound normal, that it cycles more than the living room A/C compressor. The vents are not pointed at the sensor at all. And I have the big vents on the unit off also. just use the small vents.

As far as our rig is concerned yes it does sound normal. We have a full size unit in the bedroom and, compared to the living room/dining room/kitchen area, the bedroom is very small and so it meets the need much much faster. For this reason I keep the dump on the bedroom closed, only using the vents in there and let that unit help the other one with the rest of the house. Works for us, but everyone has to work out what works best in their rig.

You are indicating you have the vents on the front AC closed and are using the small vents. I am assuming you are talking small vents as the two round vents? On our rig, the two small round vents are from the rear living room AC. We did not realize this until the bedroom AC failed last year and we only had the rear AC working. If the temps are not too high, you might get along quite well with just the rear AC running, at least until it really gets hot outside. At night, when it's still uncomfortable, we usually just run the bedroom AC, with the fan control set to ON, not AUTO, so we get the white noise, and don't get the cycling on and off, and the compressor runs as needed. The 13.5 AC is a lot of AC for the small bedroom, so it is going to cycle the compressor frequently.

Thanks All. Sounds like my A/C is working normal then. Thanks for the quick replies. I'll also try leaving the fan on and see how that works out.

When both AC are needed if the dump door on the bedroom AC is closed, it just supplies more volume to all diffusers. The bedroom and living room units force air through the same ductwork. The dump door is for quick cooling such as when you start up on a hot day. We usually turn the bedroom AC off after the house is comfortable, unless it is very warm or humid weather.

Larry, maybe your rig is different, but on our 3402, with factory installed front/bedroom AC, it does not connect to the rear AC duct work. I know there are all different kinds of systems, but the front unit on ours only discharges air directly from the AC itself, and is controlled from the Dometic thermostat as system #2. I think it would be difficult to properly control these units if they were pushing air into a common duct system, and also, the front unit has its temperature sensor on the ceiling of the bedroom, away from the main thermostat.
