Which antenna
Looking to go with a dish compatible antenna IN MY 3400 RL. (Have dish at home) thinking of the Tailgater, or the playmaker with a compatible Wally receiver and the optional extra hard drive to use as a DVR. Any suggestions or advice will be appreciated.

I have two Wally's with hard drives, but I use the interior cables so I can't use a Tailgator type antenna that uses the Wally to power it. If you do that, it needs a 25' or less cabel hooked directly to the Wally. I use Winegard G2+'s. Since they power the antenna I have 50' from my ladder mounted one before it gets to the convenience center.

Couple questions DQ. Is the winegard easy to set up? And is it easy to take off the ladder mount if you can’t get the SW exposure. I am considering the playmaker with a tripod, and adding a direct connection to the Wally through my entertainment slide out. I only want one TV on satellite. Thanks for the quick response. I would like to get everything ordered and installed before my trip next week.

Depends on if a couple of bolts on the top of the ladder is easy for you. My other one has a tripod, but I usually just put it on top of one of the slides.

Do the direct connection from your slide to the cable box and save yourself a lot of grief.

I wouldn’t have thought about putting the conection on the side of the slide. Thanks for the tip.

I use a Dish Network 1000.2 dish using either an EA Hybrid LNBF or a WA Hybrid LNBF all mounted on a surveyor's tripod and have used as much as 200' of coax so far but have more if necessary. This feeds my Hopper3 tuner that will record up to 16 programs at one time and has a 2TB HD. All works great and was very inexpensive. Once someone gets the hang of setting it up it only takes about 15 minutes to do.

You are welcome. I meant to say satellite box, but a direct connection to the cable box would have saved me headaches as well. I use the X2 also with good results using the non wally receiver. The matching tripod and storage bag make nice options for a complete package.

Where did you get the cable connection mounted on the side of the slide?

I couldn't find one like in the picture, that recessed in. I bought a flush mount from Amazon. I think it will slide past the rubber seals ok. Before I drill that hole, I am going to try the satellite connection in the convenience center. After all, that's what it was designed for. My receiver comes tomorrow so I'll repost how it goes.

Tried from the convenience center no luck. Installed directly through the slide and I was watching TV in about 10 minutes. Works great.

Thanks for the update. It is encouraging to hear how things turn out. I feel like Keystone owes us for features that don't work especially when they use them as selling points.

Montana Man-
Is the side of the slide out sturdy enough to hold the flush mount plate or did you reinforce from inside the connection area.

The structure itself is sturdy. Where the screws go in there is enough thickness to hold the screw. However, I glued small blocks of hardwood behind the "laminate" to make for better screw retention.

BNRC,
The Winegard X2 is the best way to go for portable. Bigger dish and will receive either satellite clusters which is great in some areas. Downsides: a little more expensive, physically a little larger and not made for roof or ladder mount.

Ditto on the X2...so far so good with us too..usually get my ladder and set it on the roof to get best results for us. Had a Tailgater..but didn't have much luck with it.

I use a tailgator, it's simple always works and dish support is exceptional.Went through the side of slide out. Also have a ladder mount and a tripod in case you have to go to the front.
