Wingman don't fit

Sooo I bought a Wingman since seems everyone says then really improve your reception. Got up on the roof to install it and Whoooaa forgot about the second AC. The antenna and the AC are side by side, close. Well as luck has it I need another 3 inches for it to clear the AC. Hmmmmmmm So has anyone else run into to this or is there a better antenna out there that is small enough to fit in that space???

Yes, I have not done it but Winguard rep says you can cut off the last portion and still get better performance than without. The Concept is anything is better than nothing. So two elements is better than none.

I have not done it because I have satellite and use it. If I needed tv antenna then I would do that or put the Jack antenna on which is in my closet ready to be installed when needed.

I have a Carrier Low Profile A/C. I bought the add on Wingman instead of the whole antenna and it just clears. I'd guess if others have sawed some off, you can too.

We did not purchase a wingman for our 06 3400 because we realized it would not fit. Although the HD reception is far more directional than the old analog stations we had no problem with the bat wing on the 06 3400 and no problem with the OEM batwing on the 13 3402.

why cant you remove the wingman from the top of the mounting bars and rotate it 180 degrees so the head faces the other direction that should allow you to mount the addition to the antenna it should face the street side that way.

Good question, Don, but I don't think you can do it. I had to remove my Wingman add on when I added the 2nd AC. I seem to remember looking at that option and deciding it could not be done.
Have not tried cutting the last element off yet as we almost never use the antenna. And it still works pretty good when we do.

I looked at that too but not enough room to the front cap to rotate it 180....and I looked at moving the arm to the other side and there was something that I figured just would not work, I'll check it again. It did not clear by about 2-3 inches.....Now where is that sawsall.....lol lol

I bought the King Controls Jack antenna. it fits and works great for us. about $50. it is a direct replacement for the existing antenna head. Just take off the original and replace with the Jack

x4 (or5) on the trimming. Works great. Third camper I've had it on.

Ok Wingman cut and barely fits down along side the front AC. We have lots of local channels here at the house so is hard to tell if there's a difference, but next we we leave for Pa. where channels are few and far between. Will be a good test..Thanks all
