On my previous trailer (which as of today I still own), I had a 3' extension added to the rear of the trailer so that I could add a platform to carry my Cummins-Onan p4300ie generator plus a box to hold fuel tanks and related generator paraphernalia.

Hopefully this link works....

I could not get your pictures with the link.
I also had to add an extension for the platform, the frame ends and the rear cap bulges out a bit.

The link works now Rainer, your pictures show clearly how your extension was mounted to the frame. Of course it is more difficult on the Montana's since some if not all don't have the rear cross member and the underbelly cover extends all the way to the back.

This is what I wanted to see in OZZ's mod, but perhaps pictures were not taken of that part of the work.

Here is the hitch, it bolts to the frame.

The underbelly on my Keystone Outback 26RKS did extend all the way to the back. That crossmember was not the main support, but rather it was the frame where plates were welded to the beam extensions on both sides of the beams as well as the frame.

I later welded two large class A motorhome rollers to the end of the extension to assist traversing sudden steep inclines. These worked very well, since the distance from the rear wheel to the rear of the trailer was dramatically increased.

I wanted something practical, sturdy, and attractive, and I believe I accomplished those goals.
