LPG switch on 2010 Montana
We're on our first long trip in the brand new 3150RL, and I was just about to call my salesman to tell him everything was working great. Then we ran out of gas overnight and it was 55 in the Montana the next morning. Turns out that the LPG pressure regulator didn't switch from the empty tank to the full one, like I though it was supposed to. It also showed green even though the tank was empty. Then when I switched the lever to the other tank, the furnace still wouldn't stay on. I eventually pulled the full tank from the starboard side and replaced the empty port side tank with it. Anyone have similar problems with the new Montana pressure regulators?
BTW, I really love this new Montana. I can't believe how much nicer it is than my old 2007 2955RL.

Bob,
There is nothing unusual with the type of propane problem you listed. Several folks have had the same type problem. I believe the correction is to replace the pressure regulator. There are several recent threads about this issue.
Good luck and let us know how you work things out. Also good to know the new rigs have so many nice features on them.

This happened to me when I inadvertently left the switch straight up. The way I understand it is supposed to work is you turn the switch to the tank you want to use first, then you slowly open up that tank, then slowly open up the other tank. After the first tank empties, the autoregulator, if so equipped, automatically switches to the other tank. Then you must move the switch to the new tank, prior to removing the empty tank.
I am not usually embarassed about it because I am usually too cold to feel anything when I finally correct it.
If you follow this procedure which you probably have, and it doesn't work, then maybe a new autoregulator is needed because it no longer is autoswitching. Make sure you get the Marshall style since other brands may not be correct. I hope another MOCer can comment on the right type for the best in performance.

The exact same thing happened to us Bob. In our case it happened to be the hose on the regular that was plugged. We changed the hose and it works just fine.

There are a number of posts on this subject. Here is a cut and paste of a post I recently made:
"We had the same problem, contacted Marshall, the company that makes the regulator and the change over valve. The POC at Marshall is Ed Lee, 800-877-2495 X2415. He is very knowledgeable and helpful...I think he's the guy that designed the new regulator. He said the problem is not the change over valve, but the red regulator that came as oem, and told us to get a Marshall C6121. The OEM is a Marshall GR618, 18PSI, it's red and located on the right (curb side) tank. The replacement is the Marshall C6121, 30PSI.
The OEM regulator is not strong enough to make the auto changeover valve work. The C6121 fixes the problem.
I got mine at www.rvwholesalers.com, $34 plus s&h."

Ours is in the shop for this exact thing (and others). Ours had a faulty regulator and is being changed out.

Hey Tom (TLightning). I just went to rvwholesalers and couldn't find the unit. My Monty has the 18 lb regulator on it and I am now having trouble getting the propane from that side. Swapping out the regulator sounds like a terrific idea right off the bat and under $40 sounds like the thing to try, but only if I can find it.
"rvwholesalers" didn't list it in their propane products for sale and at "shoprvparts" they list it but say it's not available (huh?).
Can someone provide a link for it? I will keep searching.
