Question Hijacked

Lately I have been getting a red screen hijacking my computer screen with a software warning and only when I am on the MOC site. I have norton internet security that can't seem to detect it. Anyone else have this experience? Only way to get out was to close my browser.

Never had that happen either on the original forum or this one.

X2 - This site is clean. Get something like Malware Bytes (free) and turn it loose. You have malware installed on your computer.

Are you using Firefox explorer? Reason i say this is Firefox has a problem trying to remove fishing websites. They look legit and when you click on them you get in trouble. Use Chrome or Edge explorer instead. and when you run a virus or malware scan it finds nothing.

I've been running Firefox since Ver 2 (now at Ver 59) along with the AVAST free virus cleaner for many years and with no problem. I have had Norton (required where I worked and if I worked from home) and McAfee pay too and dumped both 'before their time'. Both of these eat lots of your hard drive space plus really slow things down vs the freebie AVAST which actually does a better job of 'puter housekeeping. There is an inexpensive pay version of AVAST that I found works well I found after my DWs laptop got a Facebook borne 'bug'. I also use the free CC Cleaner to fix any registry problems plus it too helps keep things clean.

I too have been long time user of FF and Avast (10+ years). I never have had a problem with fishing websites.

I started with FireFox many moons ago with no issues and the last year even with the 59.0.2 latest update we are still having problems and we do not have any malware or viruses. I don't know if its being on Comcast internet but using FF we or should i say the DW keeps getting caught by fishing websites and on a sites that we use regularly. But when i switched to edge. no more problems. FF is not the browser it used to be.

I use Chrome on this samsung tablet and I have had the same issue come up twice so far and only on this website as well. Also had to turn off to get out of their warning screen. I have also noticed fake news pop up a couple of times at the top of the page, but I didn't go to the website they posted for further news. At least I know I am not the only one now.

MY Guess is that you got cookied with some unwanted adware. It's getting smarter all the time and displays ads that look a bit like the site you thought you were trying to access. Malwarebytes is a great way to clean this up. Glad it worked for you.

Still using Explorer and Norton. Never have had a problem. Yes, it eats some memory, but I have lots to spare.
