Went green, today.

Not a big deal, but we changed out our incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs today. Figured a couple of benefits:

1) Less electrical usage so will pay less when we pay for electricity during extended stays in CGs; and

2) The bulbs above the bathroom mirror were generating so much heat that the ceiling was actually starting to turn brown. Not good!

I know, we still drive a huge truck, sucking up fuel, but what the heck - it's a start.

We have been doing the same thing..Not so much to conserve anything although it will help some, but the lighting in the camper is harsh. Those lights above the bathroom mirror are blinding not to mention heat generators.

Are you talking about those odd looking bulbs? We put one in the lamp by the chairs. Didn't know they would work in the bathroom. I was going to buy frosted ones. Use to be able to chose one light or two over the kitchen sink. Now just two. For me it hits right at eye level and is very annoying.

They also make fluorescents that look more like the conventional bulbs - I put some over a sink in the stick house because the "odd looking bulbs", well, they look odd !!

We replaced all of our with the conventional looking fluorescent bulbs. Got them at COSTCO. A little slow to brighten up to fully illuminate, but they use much less wattage. We like them.
