Sacramento Metropolitan KOA

The KOA called the "Sacramento Metropolitan KOA" (California) located in West Sacramento is not one we'd recommend.

The grounds were poorly kept with overgrown weeds and trees, the gravel roads inside the camp were not maintained and had large potholes. We'd say about 80% of the RV sites were occupied by full-time occupants who also didn't maintain their sites or their RVs. Alot of the tent sites were also occupied by people/families who were obviously living in their tents. The entire campground was shabby and neglected.
It was very sad to see people living like that.

Not a place that we'd want to leave our truck or Montana at even overnight.

I hate to have to say this but I have not found a KOA on the west coast I would recommend so far. We tried one in Crescent City last year when they put us in the field and when we opened the door we could almost enter the trailer next to us. Their prices are high for what you get. Other parts of the country may be different.

toolmanroy... your post made us think about two KOA camps that we would recommend. Don't know why we didn't think of it earlier when we wrote about the Sacramento KOA. We'll post them in their own topic. We decided that when traveling in the future, we'd probably try and stay at private parks, state parks or Walmart parking lots!

We are fortunate on the west coast to have so many beautiful county, state, and federal camping choices. I realize this makes it difficult for a private park to survive but it can be done. I know of one I will recommend.
