Wireless Sound System for IPOD

While on our recent cross-country road trip, we joined a couple at the next site for drinks, dinner, and a cookout. As we were setting up, one of them came out of their 5’er carrying two black cubes. He placed them on large rocks about 20 feet apart, pulled out what looked like a real slim cell phone, pushed a button or two and within seconds we had music. When asked, he told me it was a wireless sound system for an IPOD that he purchased at Best Buy. He took Doris and I into his trailer and showed us the combined docking station and speaker charging system. We were totally WOW’ed! Whereas it was Mother’s Day, I told Doris that she was looking at her Mother’s Day gift.

Through the remainder of our trip, I searched for this system at Wally World, Circuit City, and several other electronic outlets. Not one store had them or heard of such a system. After getting home, I finally made a stop at Best Buy and found they had the system in stock. It is a Griffin Evolve Wireless Sound System for IPOD. I sucked up the $300 it cost and took home. Bottom line, Doris loves it! She sez buying it was one of the best ideas I have had.

The system has a wireless range of 150 feet and the remote does not have to be in sight of the docking station to work. In other words it transmits it signal thru walls. We use it throughout the house and at poolside and it works great!

And, for those who are wondering, other than being a customer, I am not associated with Griffin or any vendor of their products.

Charlie,

the speaker batteries are high-efficiency internal lithium-ion batteries with overcharge/undercharge circuity and are rated for 10 hours of operation at normal listening volume.

I have a portable Bose sound dock that my I-touch-Ipod plugs into. The Bose is designed to interface with the Ipod and it is rechargeable and at the same time charges the Ipod while playing. The Bose is 1 speaker with the sound quality you expect from Bose. I bought the Bose at Best Buy (about $400) but noticed the other day Sams Club had a better deal. My I-Touch is a 16 gig player. It holds most of our pictures and all of my CD collection. All of my CD's are packed away in storage. I have about 1500 pictures and 600 CD's loaded on it. I have about 4 gig of memory left on it. I also get WIFI internet,E-mail and internet radio stations. Lots of fun. This is the same Ipod as the I-phone without the phone service. It interfaces with my radio in my Dodge truck.
