Adirondack Mountains

I may have mentioned at some point that Gail and I want to go to Niagara Falls this summer. From there, we want to go on across up state to the Adirondack Mountains. Any suggestions for which campgrounds up there we can stay in at reasonable rates. We are looking for a spot where we can grill steaks-n-'taters and have a beautiful scenery view for several days.

All suggestions will be taken into consideration.

In 2010 we stayed at the Lake George KOA. This should meet all your criteria.

*be aware that it is is about 11 miles west of Lake George, like most KOA's which seem not to be all that close to the places they're named after.

We live in Lake George and there is a RV park right next to where we live called Ledgeview Village RV Park http://www.ledgeview.com/. I can tell you we stayed there many times before we moved here, as it is a very nice park. Lake George actually is located in the foothills of the Adirondacks, so you may wish to go even further north to get the real Adirondack experience. However, there is much to do here and it is beautiful. We are only 1 1/2 hours from Lake Placid. There are many RV parks, and if you are looking for scenery, you may wish to go further north. I'm not as familiar, because we don't camp where we live. If you let us know your preferences, we can ask around and private message you.
