GM suspension question...

I have a new (6,000 miles) 2013 GMC 3500HD SRW truck. It is supposed to have a "handling trailering susp" (Z85) package. I also have a Z71 offroad package. I know that the Z71 package includes skid plates, but it lists the Z71 as an option and says on the window sticker - which I kept - that these options "may replace standard equipment". I can't seem to get any answers from dealerships. Anyone have any ideas? Surely they would not build a 3500HD D/A w/o a heavy duty trailering suspension and replace it with an off road only suspension? Is it possible to have both suspensions?

Don't know the answer, but I know the Z71 Option was not an option for the Duallies, not sure about the Z85. But I ordered the Skid Plates, Heavy Duty Towing Package (Locking Rear Diff & Integrated Brake Controller) and the 5th Wheel Wiring Package. If you're a member of one of the Duramax Forums you might post the question there.

I've read some forums and they all seemed to not be sure. so I thought I'd post here and see if anyone had a definitive answer on this...

I also have the skid plates and locking differential, brake controller, etc.. I do not have the 5th wheel plug in. That was a seperate option.

David, The Z71 pkg will replace the Z85. The Z85 pkg is a stock factory package. It includes your trailer handling blah blah blah. The Z71 package is the Z85 package PLUS skid plates, HD offroad shocks, It may have a couple more things but the mind fails me. I would much rather have the Z71 pkg but it wasn't available with the 3500 DW. I did get the plates, will have to get better shocks when they are needed. Don't really take the dually blastin' across the corn fields anyway. Enjoy your truck.

Thanks, JP! I don't plan on corn fields either - wife would kill me if I even mentioned getting her truck dirty (Don't tell her but I already have tried out the 4x4). I thought I had seen the Z71 on some dualies? Maybe they were older models?
