Installation of the Voyage (WVOS511) Wireless
I've seen discussion of the Voyager Digital Wireless backup camera system in the forum and I've decided that it is the one I should choose because it works and it seems to simplest to install.
That being said, I wonder if it's something I should take on? It looks like I'd need to remove one of the running lights on the top of the rear of the coach to make a connection for the power for the camera. However, I'm concerned about how to attach the camera bracket. I don't know what is behind the fiberglass at the top. What type of screws or molly bolts are needed? Some of the videos show a grommet installed for the power cable so it must be somewhat hollow. Also I imagine you need some caulking at every hole you drill.
Any advice from those who've installed one would be appreciated.

When I mounted my camera, though my is hard wired. I guess determined were I needed to place the camera bracket and marked it. I use a drill bit that was just a little smaller than the screw. I put caulking on the screw as I was putting it in. The hole for the wire. The grommet that came with my system was already on the wire. The rear cap is to thick for the grommet to fit correctly, so I had to trim it so it would fit and caulked it fitting it in.

Get some 3M Marine 5200 Adhesive Sealant and after drilling the holes as described above, put some sealant in the holes and on the back of the camera bracket. Ours is mounted below the center rear light above the window and the power is obtained from that light. When it is installed in this manner, the running lights (parking lights on the truck or headlights must be on) on the rig must be powered for the camera to work. Here is the adhesive that is great for anything on the rv or the boat:

I have used this product for mounting speakers on our boat for it's waterproof characteristics. Behind the rear cap is hollow, and this sealer will prevent water infiltration above the window frame. The sealant can also be used when the rear marker light is reattached.

Bingo,
So is your camera mount on the flat part of the back above the window? Or on the cap below the running light? If you have a picture that would be great.

You guys have great ideas, and you're going to cost me a lot of money I hadn't plan to spend, but I love this idea. I have an alpine nav system in the truck, so I'll see if I can connect it into that. Since my power center is in the rear cap, I'll see about getting power from below, or maybe running a wire from the truck's power if I can find one back there. I only have the 3100RL, so it's a little shorter than yours, but how is the reception? I thought I read that a tunnel can cause issues???

The only reception issues we have is an occasional loss of signal associated with over and underpasses. It is very short and the picture comes right back after a second or two.

Sounds like a good place. The light will not interfere with the camera's look, down. I've ordered it from CW, and the 3M 5200 from Amazon. If the weather ever breaks, I'll install before my next trip.

Do you remember which wire on the clearance light is the positive? Also, are you mounting the camera just below the clearance light?

Can't remember. I used a meter to find it. It's mounted below the lights.
