Vent Mess
I've noticed what appears to be a bit of a mess around the vent from the galley tank on our roof.

I imagine it's residue from when we use hot water to do dishes and such. We didn't have this issue with our old trailer. Does anybody else have this issue? What cleaner would you recommend to clean it off that wouldn't affect the roof or caulking?

We have not had the kind of problem your pic shows with any of our roof vents...we use the roof cleaner from Thetford on our roof and on all of the chaulked areas.

There may be an oily residue from your pipe, can't say. Hot steamy water hitting a cold roof in winter may account for it. And if that happens in windy conditions, then the crude collects. The crude looks like what would collect in a residue from the dust and twigs blowing around outside. I know on my caulk, sand and discoloration occurs and I have to give it special attention when cleaning, i.e., more elbow grease. Whatever kind of roof cleaner you use should also take care of the issue.

I have used Tilex on my roof, and it comes out really white along with all the caulk joints. I called Dicor and asked if its OK to use and they said yes.
BUT, I also have the DW on the ground washing the sides as I wash the roof, don't want the Tiles drying on the sides of the coach. Then I re-wash the roof with Spic and Span as the DW washes the sides again. All this is done on a cloudy day so the Tiles doesn't dry up very fast.

dave I seen this last summer if you put too much dishwashing liquid in the tank and it gets full the suds will go up the vent and out on the roof. This is an absolute fact. no need to go into a long story about how I know this but lets just say a black tank was involved AND the tank was fairly clean. NUFF SAID.

Bob you and Bill are just MEAN!!LOL. Hey some times I come up with a good idea well this was not one of them. I dumped the tank and washed it out but I wanted to clean it good so I put a cup of blue dawn in it and stuffed the spray wand in the stool and watched till it was full and cut the water off. No problem rite. welll when I went outside the suds had run out the vent on the roof and down the side of the Montana. so then a wash was in order. I don't do that anymore!!LOL.
Bobby
[on edit] Thinking back I now know why alot of people were laughing.
Its just sad to become senile!!LOL.

That had to be a sight to behold. Pictures would have been nice. As with anything, one always has to look on the bright side, at least what was coming out of the vent pipe was white foam (I hope) and not............
Bobby, you are now everyone's hero for being honest enough to continue in Paul Harvey fashion with the "rest of the story".
