Thermostat upgrade

Took my Monte in for servIce to look at a/c and fridge after concerns last week at beach. Was told that everything was working like it was supposed to. So today I installed a new digital thermostat. Bought the Hunter non-programable from WallyWorld for $19. looked up wiring schematics online and hooked it up. Took about 10 mInutes. Fired her up and everything seems to be working great. Won't get to test her out real well until the rally in two weeks though. Great easy mod for just a little money.

Do you have a second A/C or a place for one? I highly reccommend the secdond A/c.

When I bought the Monte, the previous owner had upgraded from the 13.5k to the 15k a/c and gave me the old one in case I wanted to put it in the bedroom. I took it to my dealer to have it installed and they told me that it wasn't wired for it. The breaker box has a breaker marked '2nd a/c' but there are no wires run to the bedroom. So I still have it but haven't tried running the wiring yet.

It is very important to ensure the ceiling has been braced for the A/C in that vent. If it is not prewired it could possibly not have the extra bracing. Without the bracing the ceiling will sag and eventually leak around that unit.

Upon buying my 2003 3670RL Montana fifth wheel, they said the 2nd AC was wired also. About two years later, I went to install the AC and the dealership (that sold it to me) said it "wasn't wired." I endured a lot of hot weather until about four months ago when I decided to check the wiring potential out for myself. Due to the curved aluminum framing and the flat ceiling, I was able to fish a 12/2 wire from my panel to the vent. I had 50-Amp coming into the trailer panel and, with some studying and re-positioning of one wiring, I MADE room for another breaker for the 2nd AC. I just came back from some very hot temperatures in Myrtle Beach, SC and the two ACs worked great. They cycled as they were supposed to while being set at 74 degrees. Good Luck!
