Hot air coming from vents on indoor stairs

We purchased a 2019 Montana 3121RL fifth wheel last September. The stairs leading up to the bedroom have decorative vents cut in. When trying to cool the fifth wheel, there is a lot of hot air blowing inside from the vents. Do you know if these vents serve a purpose or if we can cover them to keep some of the hot air from blowing in?

We appreciate your input.

You can cover them they are return air vents for the furnace. We cover ours during the summer and when we are using the AC.

We had that on our old rig and used black foam board to block it in the summer when we put our furnace vents that are sealed shut in. Then in the fall when we put regular vents in we took the foam board out.
