This is no joke. You're right. All these strange events can happen through our phones! Remember this from last year? And also the mysterious U.S. warships having strange collisions near China? https://freebeacon.com/national-secu...e-billionaire/

Hi

You are correct and if the truck was purchased new the sales person sat in the truck with the new owner and set the password to whatever the new owner wanted.

This password a remains for that vehicle until changed even if the subscription expires the password remains when the subscription is reinstated the password is still the same.

Extra key stashed somewhere for lock out situations, even with OnStar.

Phil,

That doesn't make sense. You can leave your keys in the ignition and they have to cover the loss if its stolen unless they can prove fraud if you were trying to get it stolen.

I guess FL might have different laws than the rest of the country. I know an AZ legislator tried to get a law passed that ins did not have to cover if the keys were left in but it was shot down.

Guess again

Keys in ignition will not get you paid if they can prove it and if the vehicle is found in a canal or burned out with the keys in the ignition you may be facing fraud charges.

You can check the arrest records in Broward County Florida to verify this LOL

Phil P

PS:
Leaving you keys in the ignition in Florida will get you arrested.

Glad I don’t live in Florida. I ask my agent if I leave my keys in my vehicle and it’s stolen am I covered? If you didn’t mean to leave your keys in the vehicle you are covered, with a little wink.

Phil,

Unless there is fraud involved you do not have an issue from an insurance standpoint leaving keys in your car or truck in most states. People make mistakes. You can do something illegal such as speeding, driving recklessly, drunk etc and your insurance still has to cover you unless they can prove fraud.

I don't want my truck starting by itself, but it would be nice if it changed the oil by itself!

My Ford was making oil when I first got it. It had 13% fuel in the oil. Does that count?

Hi

I read a news report about a city somewhere in the north where it snows that was issuing tickets to drivers that went out and started their car then went back in the house while it was warming up.

The news article stated that this was to cut down on the stolen cars.

That is the same reason Florid has a similar law.

With my new truck and I’m sure most new vehicles I can start it from inside my house unlock the doors and you can not steal it. With the doors unlocked and it running it can’t be stolen. When you put it in gear the engine dies and will NOT start until the key fob is in the vehicle. This is one time when law enforcement hasn’t kept up with technology. Technology moves so fast government can’t keep up.

Read my post it is obvious I was referring to vehicles that you would have to go out and started.

The Florida law exempts those vehicles as well.

The subject is “leaving your keys” in the car.

In Florida and many other states a motor vehicle comes under the “inherently dangerous Instrument” doctrine.

In 1920 the Florida Supreme Court ruled that a Moto Vehicle is an inherently dangerous instrument.

So you jump out of your car and leave the keys to go get a loaf of bread and a 14 year old childe decides to take it for a ride and kills someone with it you up for a Vehicular Manslaughter Charge.

Like it or not it is the Law.

Boy this post sure went off the rails.had a simulator problem back a few trucks ago when remote start first came out. It was so weird that GM wouldn’t believe me so I left it at the dealer over night and it started by itself while they were closing up shop. The head mechanic stayed all night trying to figure it out never came up with a answer. Next day he put it outside and went home came back and it was sitting there running like it was possessed. They then decided to sell me a new truck and send this one back to the factory. Never heard the final outcome.

Us Ford guys have trouble keeping our trucks running. That is why we have heated tail gates. You just can’t keep a Chevy from running.
