DW put a pretty colored shoe lace on the door handle. Usually a person is looking down while walking up the steps to the bathroom, bedroom and doesn't see the open cabinet door. The string hangs low enough that you see it and prevent the damage to the noggin. Remembering then to close it before any further self inflicted pain.

Cut up swim noodles for the bedroom slide. Two short ones hanging about 3 inches vertically below the corners and one longer one horizontally on the bottom of the slide.

I also hang something from the pin box as it seems that too likes my head.

X 2 on the pool noodles, slice them half way through (long ways, lol). We then cut a V to 45 it around the corner. Works great!

Hey Ron, we don't have that problem! We don't have a door on ours! Only problem with that is if the Gkids want to play with switches they have full range to do so IF we're not close. I really would like one and we'll see if I can get one so I can join the "head knocker club"!

It's too bad RV designers aren't forced to live in their creations before production runs. My DW forgets to close the cabinet door over the toilet. I use the toilet, stand up, and take a corner to the head. My solution: get rid of my DW.

I still have not found the slides yet, but my idea is to remove the hinges and put the entire door on a pair of drawer slides so that the door slides to the left and out of the way. I just haven't found the right ones yet, but are similar to these.

I've considered just removing the door, but the electrical panel is only half of that area. I've toyed with the idea of pulling the door apart, cutting it down, and reassembling it so it leaves the panel open.

DW and I have hit our heads more times then we would like to admit, and a lot of near-misses. We have learned our lesson now (I think). The problem with self-closing hinges is they all have a detent to keep them open at 90 degrees, which defeats the purpose. If I hit my head again, I may relocate the hinges to the top edge, that way it will have to be held open when using the panel, but there will be no way to leave it open.

Bedroom slide head banger, I use pool noodles.

My wife and I bought our 2019 3920FB this past summer. My wife was putting out the awning using the control center. She was distracted and went down stairs. She walked back up the stairs (looking down so as not to trip on the steps) and hit her face on the open cabinet door to the control center. I took her to urgent care thinking the profusely bleeding nose was broken - it wasn't. I immediately took the door off to prevent further injuries. Now I am thinking of doing the full extension slides.

To solve the door problem, I finally took the door off and had a cabinet maker trim it to 16” high. DH reinstalled it. This way we don’t lose the use of the upper cabinet. The controls are exposed all the time, but we are ok with that.

As for the corners of the bedroom slide, we bought some corner protectors from Amazon. They work well, and we leave them on all the time.

Head banger door

I left that cabinet door open in our 3921 few times and banged the snot out of my head. All it took for me to fix the problem was for DW to hit her head one time. I went to Home Depot and found a $10 alarm that you put on windows and I installed it on the door. The alarm screams if you leave the door open. It became second nature to close the door to keep the alarm silent. She asked me to turn it off after a few days. That was a year ago and it has never happened again. I learned my lesson!

Hi

I installed a Window Spring, 9 inches, to close that *&%$#@! door forcefully when not in use.
Protect the wood of the frame with clear gorilla tape.
Works like a champ - we sold our helmets

Oh yes, DW hit it several times after I left it open. Not a good story to repeat. Had to remove the hinges from the wall, rotate the door so that it opens the other way, relocate the latch, and it saved the marriage, lol. The person that opens it, has to close it to go back down the steps.

Why not install a couple of gas strut tubes. Big box stores and Amazon has them. Install it so the door lifts up, not out (opening right to left). With it in the up position, you have great head clearance. No flashing lights, shoestrings, brightly colored tape or alarms.

Tried that. DW forgot to let go. I had to rescue her from hanging from door. I guess I need weaker gas struts. She did quit complaining about hitting her head.

Have you tried just closing the door?

Sorry, it just seemed too simple.

I made the 2 doors into 1

I used a piece of angle aluminum that I screwed to the top of the bottom door, then to the back of the top door. It's now impossible to hit your head on the door because you were looking down while going up the stairs. I drilled and counter sunk the holes in the aluminum prior to attaching it to the doors.
